DC on XP - please help

I've installed Dc on my pc, at beginning it was running fine but in bigger historical missions (ie. casablanca - friday the 13th) when the action increases it simply stop and i have to use task manager to go back to desktop.
I don't know, may be my pc does not fit with game requirement :

XP home edition SP 2
cpu P4 (2.8 ghz)
ram 1.5 gb
vga nvidia 6600 gt (with latest driver)
two hd (80 gb and 160 gb)
motherboard P4B sk 478

I have to say that this happen also with Fleet Commnd, but in here i crash directly on desktop.
Both games are patched with latest driver (1.1 for DC and XP installer for FC) but it doesn't solve the problem.

your computer more then meets the requirements.
but
Officially - DC isnt supported for xp.

that said, a FULL INSTALL ,
and reducing the in game video details a bit ought to do the trick.

works fine on xp fer me

you might also try using windows compatability mode.

DC runs on XP despite the warning that appears during install.

Your spec is also easily enough.

There was an issue with one version of the NVidia drivers but the very latest ones caused no problems - I assume you have the most up to date.

The fact that it installs and plays but then freezes at certain points in some games suggests video card problems.

That probably indicates soething wrong in the way your computer manages free memory....

Have you upgraded memory recently?

Does this happen with other games, even more modern than DC?

Sorry if I didn't reply earlier, but i was trying an othre way to solve the problem.
I built an other PC with win98SE (not only for DC, I have many other games built for win98 that I never have time to play earlier) with :

CPU amd athlon (tm) xp 2400
RAM 512 ddr
GRAPHIC CARD power vr kiroII 64 mb
HD 80 gb
MOTHER BOARD biostar M7VIZ

Basically this system is slightly more recent that th XP one (based on a 2001 asus P4B) even if with less power.

But is has been useless again, the game at the ususal historical mission CASABLANCA crash

As last tentative I hv reinstalled DC on the previos system (described in the top post) which meanwhile I hv changed the previous video card (ge force 6600 gt) with an ATI x800 xt pe. Again same crash !!!

At the end i hv tried the game on one XP pc and on win98 pc with different ram
(sdram 1,5 gb - ddr 512 gb) three different graphic card (ati x800 xt pe - geforce 6600 gt - power vr kiroII 64 mb) with always the same result : crash at heating point of this Casablanca mission (also happen Friday the 13th).
It looks like than when the game is palyng hevier mission (with many ships, targets etc) it collaps. May be my game copy have some problem (it is original ) ???

On my xp system I have installed and played heavier game with no problem like : call of duty 2, ghost recon, pacific fighters ecc ecc.

For what Fleet command is concerned i hv bought the new sonalyst Naval Combat Pack to see if this xp direct 3d version works better on my pc. When i'll receive it i'll let you know.

Meanwhile if you have any suggestions for DC...... I start to give up...... but I particulay like this game (I think all the above efforts i made show it quite well!!)
and hate the idea to leave it.
