I want to try out the NYGM mod, but already have a rediculously heavily modded Grey Wolves 1.1a install on my comp. There is no way I am going to uninstall this, and start from scratch again, so is it possible to install another clean installation to mod to NYGM? I have read that you have to copy your original install, but unfortunately I just immediately modded my original to Grey Wolves (no, not with mod enabler)..so am I stuck or is there a way to get another clean installation on there? just asking because I don't want to screw up my current installation through trial and error...
thanks.
p.s. if it is not possible, then how about this---can I install individually, the anti-humming bird mod and/or the kiel canal plotting tool mod onto my current installation (again, a heavy modded GW1.1a)?? Is there a link anywhere to explain how to mod these specifically?

Rollback SH3 Commander(if your using it)
Go to:
Program Files/Ubisoft/Silent Hunter III
Rename your Silent Hunter III folder to Silent Hunter III-GW. Rename the desktop icon the same also.
Now run your SH3 install disc again-it will install the entire game all over again. Just add a fresh desktop icon and your ready to go.
Right now I've got 3 installs
Silent Hunter III-GW
Silent Hunter III-NYGM
Silent Hunter III
If you're using SH3 Commander
you need to change the path name to reflect the new folder name.
You can have multiple Commanders also but always rollback before switching from one version to the other.

ok beautiful...sounds simple enough--no registry edits right? just rollback sh3cmdr, rename, and reinstall?...ok I'll give it a go. thanks.
wait just thought of something--what about the my documents SH3 folder? do I have to rename that or create another one for the new install?

You type faster than I do. :rotfl:
"Rename the desktop icon the same also." Will also have to right click the icon, select 'Properties', then point the shortcut to the renamed folder.

If you want to save your career then yes rename the file in My Docs, then copy over afterwards.

Ok, not to further muddy the waters, because that was a good dual install thread. But, does anybody know if this creates difficulties with JSGME? Can you path it like SH3 Commander somehow?
Thanks,

I think that you should copy JSGME.EXE to each SH3 folder and run it from there.
You should be able to rename JSGME to match each install. IE, JSGME-GW, JSGME-NYGM, and so on. Make the same changes for the desktop shortcuts too to match each install.

Correct. Copy JSGME into each installation.
At some point I may look at creating a version that only needs installing once and lets you select what game you want to mod, but to be honest it's not a high priority for me at the moment.

How do you create different paths with SH Commander with dual installs?
Thanks.
