Imcomprehensible but fun. ;)
Number 6: Where am I?
Number 2: In the Village.
Number 6: What do you want?
Number 2: We want information.
Number 6: Whose side are you on?
Number 2: That would be telling. We want information... information... information.
Number 6: You won't get it.
Number 2: By hook or by crook, we will.
Number 6: Who are you?
Number 2: The new Number 2.
Number 6: Who is Number 1?
Number 2: You are Number 6.
Number 6: I am not a number, I am a free man.

It was what it was. That was the nice thing about it; it was never explained.
I can't watch anything right now, but I have the entire series on DVD.
And I don't care what they said then or say now, I know in my heart that Number 6 was in fact John Drake! 'Mr. Jones' from Ice Station Zebra was also Drake!
Patrick Mc Goohan has always and continues to state for the record there is no connection with the Secret Agent (U.S.A.) or Danger Man (U.K.) to The Prisoner.
August,
The White Balloon which was only named Rover in episode five The Schizoid Man. is some sort of police dog that can pop up from any where on land or sea, object was to put fear in to the prisoners and to stop them from escaping. A great idea for it's time something completely different.
PS. Bullets bounce off Rover episode two, The Chimes of Big Ben.
ROVER FACTS -
Rover is a weather balloon.
Some 7000 weather balloons were used in the making of the series.
Some scenes were shot back wards a classic one is in episode one Arrival, right at the end of the episode after No.6 steps out of the helicopter and Rover zooms by him, watch the smoke from the chimneys in the background. The smoke goes back into the chimneys.
Patrick Mc Goohan turned down the role as James Bond before it was offered to Sean Connery.

But is Number Six really Number One.
Number 6: Who is Number 1?
Number 2: You are Number 6.
Does "You are" confer to Number Six that he is really Number One???? Give it a think.

Are yes the final episode Fall Out what the hell was that all about?
This one has always been one hell of a strange episode many people believe it was Curtis from The Schizoid Man bought back to life! After all they bought No.2 (Leo Mc Kern) back to life. If it was Curtis then they made a monkey out of No.6 sorry he is no longer No.6 by this stage of the episode, any way when he unmasked No.1 it was another mask that of a monkey? This would seem to suggest the former No.6 along with No.2 & No.48 were a real threat to the Village and had to be dealt with. There are so many what if's to this episode that I lost count.
The Prisoner by his own actions imprison himself in the Village and escaped he still is a prisoner of society (Note the sound of his now automated front door of his home) Patrick Mc Goohan has never told anyone what that final episode was about. The only thing he has said The Prisoner is a puzzle and each episode is a piece of the puzzle which holds a clue to understanding the final episode. Work that one out if you can.

While we are on the subject name your favourite episode and No.2
My favourite episode is, episode 16 Once upon a Time seeing the return of Leo Mc Kern as a very grumpy and angry No.2 who demands there is only one course open to them to crack No.6 "Degree Absolute" and so the stage is set for a battle of minds.
After making this episode Leo Mc Kern suffered a nervous breakdown due to the intensify of the episode.
My choice of No.2 goes to the only other actor to reappear as No.2 Colin Gordon a great sinister No.2 is best performance was in episode three A,B and C this episode went through name changes first was a play in three acts then 1,2 and 3.

I've heard it said that neither McGoohan nor the production company held the rights to anything involving Danger Man; if they did not vehemently deny it the would have had to pay massive royalties. I still get to hold my cherished beliefs whether I'm right or not.:p

Thanks for reminding me of that part; it brings up one of my favorite outside tributes. In Babylon 5 every time the evil PsyCop Bester (played delightfully by Star Trek's Chekov, Walter Koenig) leaves, he does the OK sign and says "Be seeing you".

A long sharp knitting needle for the win!

There may be a film version in the pipeline but this issue has been ongoing for a number of years now, if it finally gets the go ahead please get it right, I don't want to see a flop like the avengers was.
The following was some time this year, I think.
(British TV channel Sky One today confirmed plans for a big budget remake of cult 1960s classic The Prisoner, with former Doctor Who actor Christopher Eccleston expected to take the lead role.)
