Great site!!
I had an archive of sites like this but I haven't transferred it from my dads' comp yet.
When I finally get it back I'll post some links to military videos and stuff...really cool too.
Nice site. I've always found this video impressive as well. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=2552156377245852199

Reminds me of a doco of which they had a part where there were pigs in a open pen a few miles from G0, the pigs just stood there twitching with steam coming off then for a second or so until the blast wave hit them.
Just goes to show you're way dead before the shokwave hits.

Those shots from that ship have to be the single most impressive piece of filming I've seen in a very long time...my god...:o

No films as far as I can recall, but a shed load of pics and further information about nuclear testing.
Some of the stills are really impressive (if you can say such a thing about them), I had one or two of the more spectacular images as wallpaper during the winter last year. mmmm nuclear-toasty...
Did anybody see 'Trinity and Beyond' - the history of the bomb' narrated by William Shatner? A truely interesting program with some very special music perfectly suited to the program. If anyone knows what I'm talking about and can remember where the music came from that'd be great ;)

I've seen most of those on various documentaries. They are certainly amazing to see.

I have the DVD. I'll check the music score and let you know.
The only thing stated is it's an original score performed by the Moscow Symphony Orchesta, how ironic.

Americas oops - when a 6 megaton goes wrong and turns out to be no where close to 6 megatons. This shot is taken from 40,000 feet and guess how many miles away:

Isn't that the one that effed up radiowaves for thousands of Kms and they descided not to do anymore high altitude test after?
Another Opps:
US one taken very deep sea and was found to have higher radiation dosage per given area and again they didn't do another one.
Or the best was the French one that was under a mountain in Northern Africe (Algeria I think :hmm: ) and found a fault in the mountain and cracked open with the gasses rolling down the mountain near where all the army etc was, they all ran like headless chickens) I remember one fench soldier saying the french atomic minister was there and took off in his car leaving everyone to fend for themselves :stare:
Just goes to show ya... Don't play with nuclear matches:yep:
I work in the IT dept. here at work... I downloaded the "Damage and Destruction" vid and renamed it "Dell Laptop" and emailed it to my boss....
I swear I cant help myself sometimes.... :smug:

The "oops" shot was Castle Bravo- it was supposed to yield 6 megatons but due to miscalculation (read about it on the nuclearweaponarchive) it resulted in an 18 megaton shot. One of my high school shop teachers was in the atmospheric test program and was present. Also met two other weapons engineers when I was in the service (working on nukes) who were present at the same event.

Here's a link to the Nuclear Weapon Archive and the article on the Castle series; also shows the test device (the physics package was later modified into the Mk14, Mk17, and other thermonuclear bombs)-

Yep, that's one BFMC (Big Freaking Mushroom Cloud). It's about three miles across...

Of course, that's not as crazy as the Soviets who did a 50 MT test intentionally. In a design that could be easily scaled up to 100 MT.
