Cross reference this story with the fact that US Army surgeons have been needing surgical experience, which they have been getting by doing a bunch of boob jobs (http://archive.recordonline.com/archive/2004/07/26/bethcolj.htm) on enlisted girls, and the whole matter might seem less marginal.
I guess the moral is, if you're in a war-zone, it really does pay to have fake boobs.
