If you are looking for a card to buy,and you want the best price/preformance balance ,you should either buy a GF6600GT/6800GT(the 6600 is around 250E but it is the best middle-to-high range card you can get at a good price -the only things that could beat it in tests are ,well, the 6800GT and the 7xxx series, and the 6800 is even better but at a higher price.I currently have the 6600GT and with a good procesor+ram you can run pretty much every latest game with maximum or almost maximum settings. For example,I,with my 6600GT can play Oblivion on maximum settings with very little problems.)If you want an ATI card,I can't really help there...because I've never used one...but the X***X series cards seem pretty good.
About SH3,well,probably any card above the GF4 series can handle it...but i would avise getting a GF5800 at least for a relatively good preformance.

What card are you talking about? The GF6200?If that's the case,it will work with your processor and ram just fine, although it is a lower-end card. But if that's not the card you're talking about, what is it?I don't really think there's one called xfx6200 or maybe I'm wrong?

Tiger Direct shows a XFX Geforce 6200 512MB card ,it does not have TV on just a
gaming card? it also looks like I will need a larger power supply the one in my coumpter is only 160watts.

160 watts? Are you sure?350 watt power supplyes have been a standard for...a loong time. Are you sure you are reading the the correct thing?Look inside your computer ,on the side of the power-source.There's a sticker there-there should be something written like "MAX POWER OUTPUT"-compare that to the card's specs, not something else.

All I see is 110/5amp, that makes me think more like 500 watts.

With the newer graphics cards being used, 350 watts is usually not even close to being enough. So stay away from computers with them. Have the place you buy from upgrade it or if they won't, walk out. The best option is to build the computer you want and can afford.

Personally, I used to have the 6600GT, but then me, being the typical American capitalistic schmuck, decided to spend part of my paycheck (not that it is a lot...teenagers don't get paid much, doncha know!) on buying a 6800GT (I wanted a 7xxx series, but those were just out of this world), and SH3 runs about the same as on the 6600GT, I think.

Best bet is dont go any lower than a Geforce 5700 128ram or a Radeon 9600 Pro 256 ram. All cards above these specs will work the higher the card specs the better.

Yea you should've stayed with the 6600GT .In many test on the net ,they are not really so much different in preformance.Ok,there is a difference, but rather small. You should see if you can return the card and maybe save some cash for that 7xxx you (and me and everyone else wants:D ).You're right those things are out of this world. Here in Romania,a GF6600GT costa around 250euro's and one of those 7xxx's cost at least 700 euro's or something like that. And my (student" paycheck is 10 *******ing euro's per month.WTF am i supposed to do with that much?Buy candy?Sheesh:(

It should run but I don't know how well....video card RAM doesn't really count that much ...and the core clock /memory card speed is lower than the fx5700 ultra I think.

GF5600Ultra 256mb grafics card works great.... using it now. The ti4600s work fine too as a friend is using one for SHIII right now. Just don't use the old MX cards..... tho I hear someone did get SHIII to run with one.

Got a 4 year old Creative GeForce 5600Ultra 128MB AGP8X, and SH3 runs quite well.. But I'm really looking forward to a 6600GT or similar.

Running with an old Athlon XP 2700+ (2.17Ghz) and 768 RAM, I wonder what card actually should be the most optimal? :hmm: Since I heard that similar specs. didn't manage to really push the power out of the 6800-series and better.

Opinions anyone? ;)

Attention! When you are buying new card, take a good look inside your PC and make sure thereīs enough room for it. The GF7800GTX was twice as big as my older card. It took me half an hour to fit it in. I thought developement would make things smaller. And it eats alot of power, even has a own power cable to plug in to the card.:yep:

But what a great card it is.

Could imagine that Dowly :D .. Doesn't it take 2 slots at the back too if I'm not mistaken?

My 5600 Ultra needs extra aux. power too, however it isn't such a big card though.

Tried to get my hands on a second-hand AGP 6600GT for 650 SEK ( About €71 or $90 ), too bad it was already sold. :nope:

No, it fits in just like any other PCI-E card expect for itīs huge size and the aux power cable.

Well I just installed a XFX Geforce 6800XT 256MB card and it runs SH3 without so much as a stutter.

I had a 6600GT and it would run SH3 but would occasionally stutter when near a convoy with alot of smoke or explosions going on.With the 6800XT not a twitch from it.Far superior to my old 6600GT card by a long shot.

I've seen the AGP 6600GT outperform the AGP 6800XT in a gaming benchmark. However I don't trust all those benchmarks to 100%..

But what I do know is that the 6600GT is incredible what comes to overclocking, so it's quite possible that it could actually outperform the higher 6-series when boosted.

The PCI-E 6800XT though beats AGP 6600GT easily.
