I came across my Aces of the Deep Manual yesterday. That was when you got a book for a manual. Half of it is a great summary of the U-boat war, and there are lots of good photos. I guess I could post some here if anyone's interested. The photos are credited National Archives, so I don't think there would be any copyright issues. Somebody would have to tell me how to post photos, though.
Holy crap! :o
I was just talking about that very thing to my pal yesterday! I asked him if he could probably find his old manual! Turned out he had no idea where to look after all these years.
But back on topic...I would so love to be able to take a look at it again!
Please!;)
The best part of Aces of the Deep was the cool Grid map that came in the box. I have a laminated copy on my wall now.
I have the manual too. I also have an unopened Box of Aces of the Deep.:yep:
Wanna having that too!

Ahh yes, the Aces of the Deep map.
Once again AoD does it better...
What the heck is wrong with the SHIII map anyways, I can't put my finger on it.

It's not real. The AOD map is a reproduction of a real Kriegsmarine map.
:o
Jee! Anyone else pinning for the times when Games came in boxes with an actual book as a manual!
I remember the cool times when I got my first Jane’s Apache Longbow sim. The pilot’s handbook was amazing! A ring book heavy and thick! Full of Tactics, Tech info, avionics and all the other stuff that made you feel like a simmer!
:-?
Or Falcon!
Sigh!
PS. Thanx for the link bigboy!

Right...But still a nice looking and accurate reproduction. Beats what we get with SHIII.

I think Sailor Steve was answering my question of what was wrong with the SHIII map.
Well, let's all hope SHIV comes with a 250 pages paper manual with lots of maps and charts! (yeah right, dream on.)

Exactly. The AOD map IS real. The SHIII map is not. That's what's wrong with it.

If anybody has any problems running CAOD on their XP machines, I found a great way that works for me.
Go to Start- Help and Support- type 'compatible' in search then click on 'getting older programs to work'
Then use the 'compatiblity wizard'
Don't forget to tell the wizard to run the game in 256 colors.

(I want the historical data, tactics, etc...haven't read it in awhile)
