Ok just thinking on getting a new coumpter and what would be the best card,
getting a new system would like to spend no more than $1,500 dollars.
I have the nvidea 6600GT 256mb, and it works fine with SH3. I dont think you should go any lower, at least not if you want to play the Grey Wolves mod.

The 6200 will play it, but I don't know how well. You might seriously consider using the "partial precision" fix for the game, and deal with the graphic abnormalities in return for increased framerates.
Your processor also has a lot to do with things. The game is far harder on your processor than the video card, but a 6200TC isn't much "faster" than a 5900XT.

Yes the 6200 will play SH3 okay as long as you have Antianalising turned off. With that on your get lag when on the surface. But if your aiming to buy new games from now on the 6200 is best left alone and buy a better card going by your price range the 6600 or 6800 aren't that much dearer.
How do you turn antialiasing on?

How do you turn antialiasing on?
Dont know about Radeon Cards but for the Geforce: Go to your main card controls in windows If they are not loaded on your taskbar during startup then - Right click on the desktop. In the menu go to "Properties" - settings - advanced. Then your Geforce Tab. Look for the "Performance and Quality settings" option, click on that and you will see Antialiasing. Turn it on by unchecking the "Application - control" Then adjust it to what you want: 2x 4x etc.,
Wow, never thought about that. Thanks!

I'm running a NVidia GeForce 6200OC. I think BFG's the manufacturer, if I remember right. 256 MB. It's not a high end card, by any means, but it seems plenty for SH3. Like kiwi_2005 said, keep the antialiasing off. I'm running NYGM2.* and the harbors tend to be kinda slow, but it's playable (this was prior to my processor update... went from a P4-2.0GHz to an AMD Athlon 2800+, and haven't gotten back to harbor yet).
In short, it's a good low-budget card for SH3.

I would go with a Nvidia 7900GT 256 or 512 MB PCI-E GDDR3 RAM setup. That is a VERY powerful card and it costs less than $300 now and can even be used in SLI mode with another of the exact same card to give you up to 1 GB of video memory. That card runs very cool compared to any ATI card and higher level Nvidia cards so your PC should not get over heated. The fan on it is a bit loud but you can swap it with a more silent one that cools it just as good. I'd go with the 512MB over the 256MB setup since the extra RAM will help out with future games and with upgrading.
Make sure you go with a new conroe processor from Intel. I just got the 2.4Ghz duo core 2 with 4MB cache and it outperforms even the highest end AMD processor out there right now on just about every benchmark and outperforms a 3.7Ghz Extreme Pentium 4 by a mile in ALL benchmarks and uses WAY less power to boot. The way of the future is duo core processors that work smarter and faster at lower GHz levels. Although you should look at it like 2 X 2.4 Ghz processors working together making it more or less a 4.8 GHz monster. That processor right now retails for about $500 and the highest level duo core right now retails at $1000 but I think it's a bit of a waste for an extra 300 MHZ per processor (600 MHZ faster, big whup :nope: ). So anyways you could more or less get a VERY powerful PC for right about or even a little less than $1500 if you wanted. Good luck and happy hunting!!!

using GeForce 6200a-256mb (also with just 512 ram if you can believe that) with GW+Uwac+sh2commander and sh3gen----have some lag staring out in harbor and when in the area of large sea battles w/flights of aircraft involved (Uwac) --but no other major issues.
when staring out in harbor and lag begins--- after first few moments of switching between screens and panning the views it goes away----just disable comp processes not needed prior to playing.

I think SH3 does not support antialiasing anyway, so even if you turn it on in the graphic driver, you won't see any difference. SH3 will run on 6200, but not very nice. Hell you can even play it on 5200 if you feel like, but notce the difference between "will work" and "will display all it's graphics beauty" I suggest you go at least for an 6600 (simple if not GT) 6600 is not an expensive card.

SH3 does support AA, even Adaptive AA.
