This is continued/expanded upon from my original posting in this THREAD (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?p=285191)

Thanks bigboywooly, Redwine and Hueywolf123 (btw - that F-F4-T-F4-G-F4 combo's a good one)

But im afraid ive caused some confussion (I thought about starting a new Thread too)...

The problem has never been (the well known) lack of shooting back at the enemy problem,
The problem is the C/30 3.7cm Flak Gun is NOT BEING MANNED :damn:
Or is what im looking at a "Deck Gun"? I don't think so? even if it was, THAT option isn't
available either. They just simply don't or won't/can't MAN this gun (as p/orig post)
"is it a C/30 3.7cm Flak i think? the one positioned lower down & between the other two
smaller Flak guns ..."

(from what I can gather, shouldn't there be 3 or more Flak Gunner slots needed, not only 2 ?)

and this is with ALL of the following criteria met:

1. There IS a Watch Officer on the Bridge.
2. Have a full Compliment of Crew (even Veterans with Flak Qualification! tho see below*).
3. ALL of the available Flak positions (2) are filled in the CREW Screen.
4. I have Plenty of Ammo.
5. The Sea is calm enough for Flak gun manning.

hummm weird one for sure .... The pic shows you have the heavy flak gun of course.. but before leaving base did you add the heavy flak gun in the weapons screen ? If you don't add it to your weapons . you don't get to have one.. same with a deck gun .......

edit : I noticed you don't have a deck gun either .. you have to have it installed on your boat when at port ....

:hmm: yes very weird because you should have more crew gun slots than that
Not used a VIIC but in the IXB with tower 3 and the heavy gun I have 4 crew slots

Your 2 men are manning the 2 light guns
And as slow_n_ez says you have no deck gun either - did you remove that thru SH3 commander? or is that not showing also

Judging from the pictures of your crew screen, it appears you have a VIIC/2-tower, but your exterior shot shows a VIIC/3-tower. How can this be? I bet something is really messed up in your boats configuration.
But don't ask me how this happened...

Don't know if this will help, but your flak qualified crew is in forward rest area in pic #2, also is the watch officer flak qualified, not necessary but it does help on efficiently.

Oh, and one that I made to replace the PC Nazi flags with NPC versions that i made in photoshop

I have downloaded and plan on installing "SH3 Commander", but as yet have not installed/used it,
(bigboywooly: Deck gun has just never showed right from the start, always bummed me out that did :cry:)

I Started this particular Mission via -> Single Mission -> Single Missions -> and chose the
following: Bismarck (May 1941) and basically the 1st VIIC in the list with a Veterans Crew (1943).

O.K. ...
The Mission Starts with Sub at periscope depth (slow_n_ez: so never got the chance to modify - was never in port)
Already in the midst of the Nelson & King George V Battleships blowing the s**t out of the Bismarck, which
if you don't act quickly, is promptly sunk!
Next, I did really well this particular attempt and sunk BOTH the Nelson & King George V Battleships BEFORE
they could sink "da Bis" :yep: (which then toddled off somewhere?), took out the remaining two Destroyers and could of
then ended the mission as PASSED. But i didn't end it, the reason for this was i've seen that cool screenshot of
an iceberg, and decided "I want to see one of these" (but i don't want to do crazy s**t like "iceburg hunting" in
my CAREER Game) so figured, why not? have been heading North(ish) hoping to eventually find one ever since ...

You know what i think's go'n on - Using a 1943 Boat in a 1941 Mission (maybe?) ...

(If anyone knows of a mission that starts near iceburgs ? or good location to find'em ?)

Anyway, Once again thanks for all the help Guys. I wonder if anyone else can replicate this ?
btw - if anyone knows what needs to be added to the above [PLAYER_SUBMARINE] config so i could
get a Deck Gun ? By all means tell me, cheers.

Well that is odd
Its not because of using a 43 boat in a 41 mission - I have used the IX in that mission and all there

"M01=88mm_UDeck_Gun_High" will give you the deck gun tho you should have it in a turm 3
You wont have a deckgun in a turm 4

Still doesnt solve why no spaces for flak crew tho

Might be able to (at least) add some Small Merchants (Zero Torps) to the Kill list.

So, do you think its worth installing SH3 Commander (http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showthread.php?t=95448) ? Maybe it could be helpful in
sorting this mess out? I was going to install it, I downloaded the optional
SH3 Commander Combined Skin Pack Add-on (http://www.users.on.net/%7Ejscones/software/products/SH3CmdrCSP.7z) for it too :cool:

Could you tell me (If you use SH3 Commander that is), whether its possible to
fully %100 disable Crew "Fatigue"? Im guessing it can change a multitude of Settings.
Am looking forward to checking it out.

Yes you can disable fatigue if you want
