Could anyone give or link me to some trustworthy data on the size of the Israeli army? Ís that ammount of varying information maybe intentional? I spend this afternoon with visiting many sites and googling for info. Data sources from 2000-2003 say that the ground forces have 80.000 soldiers, or 140 thousand, or even 260 thousand (always only ground forces counted). The variance on available reservists for infantry troops is even more confusig: it ranges from 400 thousand wheh considering men up to the age of 44 to up to 1.2 million males and 1.1 million females below the age of 45 which could be drawn as reservists. So far I was living with the impression that the infantry part of the army alone is around 180-200 thousands. But now - I am simply totally confused and do not know what I should think anymore.
