Well, it took 14 years but I finally found the name of the song I used to listen to on the local gasthaus jukebox while stationed in Germany....
Yes, after much searching in various German language music forums, I found the one German language song that evaded my memory all these freaking years. I only remember one verse, which explains why it took so long.

No, it's not Skybird's favorite German folk musicians (Klaus & Klaus) and their progressive song "Der Eiermann", but rather "Die Toten Hosen's" tune "Alles wird gut".

Now if I can just find some lyrics to go with the one German tune I hated (I think it was by Herbert Gronemeyer)- the other was "Noheim Bier" or something to that effect...

Yours, Mike

Would I be correct in thinking that "Die Toten Hosen" translates to "The Dead Trousers"?

Mike really needs to improve his taste of "music" !

"tote Hose" is a proverb in German (fully acceptable in common usage, btw.) . If you find yourself in a situation that you characterize as "tote Hose", then you mean that it is boring, nothing is happening, it is not interesting and that there is nothing that could get things going. It probably derives from complaints of wifes that their husbands for some reasons refuse to function in the biological way and order they would have hoped and expected after the lights went out.

Hey, that was '80's/early 90's and I was under the influence of "Parkbrau". Of course, can't complain much about the "Scorpions" (well, that orchestra bit was very un-metal).
