Since the U.S. gets bashed on quite regularly in these forums, I was thinking maybe a "Lets Bash the U.S." thread should be a sticky.
Maybe that way less posts would be hijacked;)
I vote yes.:D

I agree: Steve Smith is certainly a viable prospect, but one cannot assume that his catch average will carry from season to season. Certainly, as gameplans change from year to year, other players (Kerry Colbert, for example) may see the QB looking to them more frequently, which means fewer balls for Smith. Consequently, I would put him in the first round, but by no means a first pick. I am still backing on a RB for mine, and you won't see me drafting a receiver until round three.
IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSLAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMM!!!!
There ya go, thread hijacked...give it a couple of days and it'll be a flame war, people will be throwing personal insults at each other, moderators will be called, people cautioned, people will leave or get banned and we'll all go back to normal.
Until next week...

Here we go again with Oberon and his ludicrous anti-wheat bread stance. If it were up to him, we'd all eat rye day in and day out. Who elected him God? I demand a recount.
No way that I'll eat rye, you fascists. Rye bread killed my father. Consider yourselved pwned.

Do we get extra points for bringing the Nazis into it?
Right, so we've covered Islam, the US, Nazis...what else do we need?

If you, as I think you are, correct me if I'm wrong, want a thread specifically to show how terrible the United States devil is, I say let's do that. Wonderful idea. It'l give the folks a specific place to air their dislike for the United States.
The United States is filled with folks who either agree or dis-agree with the current position of the United States government. People from other countries really don't have a say in the administration's policy. You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but the people of the United States spoke in two national elections. This is a republic not a pluralistic democracy. We elect our representatives to act on our behalf, and listen to the people who voted them to office. The citizens of the United States have made their decision, based on what they feel is in their best interest. We do not look at what the rest of the world thinks. Like all other peoples (and countries) we do what we feel is best for the United States.

Put it this way what on earth would it gain? ok not alot of people like the american government at the moment but thats our own personal opinionwe are entitled to it, a post like that would get out of hand too fast, and would bring the forum right down and thats not what we are here for.
Its easy to pick on some one alot of you guys take digs at russian ive never ever asked for a post like this its not because i dont see a need its because of respect, i admit openly im not fond of the american government i dont support it and i certainly wont serve it, but thats my choice i dont think debating it here is a good idea.
We are patriots in one way or another its going to be my country is better than your it has more tanks planes ships ect posts the little nitty gritty arguments that no one wins we all get upset the forum looses people and frankly i dont want nothing to do with a post like that.
Anti american or not! no country deserves a post like that.

I think we need two sticky threads then - a bash the America thread and an America bash the world thread! That way, us Americans can bash everyone else, and you guys can bash us, and everyone will be happy and talk about submarines in every other thread! :rotfl: :p

I ate Russian hamburger at Barny's in Berkeley, CA which they never had in Russia. It was quite tasty. :)

Bash Islam thread? I thought this was the Bash Islam forum...
At first, I actually thought this was a subsim forum but that was my mistake. Well, I'll pop back in a couple months to see whether the national supremacy vibes on this site have decreased. Until then, it's off to the grownups at SimHQ. Bye y'all!
Bye Bye...don't forget your binky and blankie...
I voted yes...bash away. :)
What doesn't kill kill ya...:)
I find the implication that because so many people (on a forum with many different nations represented no less) have a dim view of self serving US policies which affect people all around the world it should then be characterized as US bashing an offensive implication. I don't see many people flaming pro-US posters but rather I see many unanswered arguments which are often very well substantiated with evidence. That these staunch patriots cannot synthesize any better counter-argument than to reject all criticism as unintellectual bashing is itself as bad as what is being implied. Plus whats so surprising about seeing a thread about world politics and events become about the US? Isn't the US heavily involved in alot of the stuff that happens in the Mid-East? Being the world superpower tends to lead to that. However that also means that alot of people are going tobe critical. SO whats wrong with that? All I see here is a bunch of blind patriots being petulant because they don't like their ignorant beliefs in Manifest Destiny being challenged and don;t want to have to actually justify them.

Oh please! Get off your high horse already! Why don't you look at Canada as an example? We can go on about them for ages as well (My wife is Canadian - I'll have to beat up Canada when she is not looking however! :D We can start with the Le Québec Wa if you want - which is where I assume you are from by the way you talk, or at least East Coast Canada. West coast is too passive). Turn you sights on China, France, or any other country and you will find issues with all of them. The US is not perfect, but we don't take kindly to people blowing up our buildings, so deal with it. You could have the Soviet Union as your last remaining Super Power right now and they should have already walked across your border and made you part of it already.

Don't take it personally Subman, America has always had it's share of critics, of both the foreign and domestic varieties. Thanks to the power of modern communications they seem far more numerous than in past times but I firmly believe they aren't, just more easily heard.
Personally i think all this invective is a good thing. The world is never going to love us, so we might as well not labor under the mistaken impression they do.

True enough - who does? Perhaps if you begin just from that single premise you might get an inkling of why there is an insurgency in Iraq, of why Hezbollah was formed during the Israeli occupation of Southern Lebanon, etc.
Other people don't take kindly to having their buildings blown up either. But you have no capability to grasp this simple fact, which is why a majority of Americans supported the Iraq war and why so many people thought it would be a "cakewalk" with the Americans being greeted with flowers and candy. :nope:

Hahahaha! That is funny! It is written into their Koran that you are the infidel (unless you are of Islam yourself, which I sort of expect you might be). Has nothing to do with anyone doing anything except existing and being not of Islam - no other reason here. Period.
By the way, no one ever thought it would be a cakewalk after the major battles were done. We only hoped it would stay like that for some time.

I'm aware of that. Most are irrational too, which makes me questions peoples education.

That inkling would be incorrect. The insurgency in Iraq is all about Sunnis trying to jostle for a better place in the post-Baathist Iraq against ethnic groups who have no love for them. Why do you think they attack their fellow Iraqis far more often than they do coalition troops? Why do you think they attack Shiite mosques which have nothing to do with the US?
As for Hezbollah, they're just a puppet of Syria (also controlled by Baathists BTW) and Iran, both of who have been fighting an undeclared war against the evil Zionists for decades.
All of Israels incursions into southern Lebanon have been in response to attacks from that area. Google Operation Litani from way back in 1978.

It's not the US I hate, or even true Republicans. It's these neo-conservative yellow-bellies who say,"Let's you and him fight.", that I hate. You know, the guys who took 5 draft deferments like Cheney and then call war heroes cowards and traitors. Those are the guys I'd like to see take the point in Baghdad. Regarding Republicans, I'll quote Rush Limbaugh about Democrats,"When are you going to take your party back?"

Well Subman you have shown your preference towards making conclusions without evidence once again. You assume I am Eastern Canadian, probably Quebecois, because the West is so "passive". Well you are as geographically wrong as you could be. I am born and raised in Vancouver BC. It is a spurrious logic that says that just because I happen to have a bit of a leftist or vocal view that Im from a certain region.
Of course my country has issues! They all do! The only difference is that my country isn't intent on spreading its ideology and policies to every corner of the earth. American Manifest Destiny is still alive and any patriotic citizen has an obligation to watch the US carefully because as many American members have pointed out in other threads on Sub Sim apparently American lives and interests come first in the great scheme.
As the world's leading power the US has increadible power (its in the name right?) and as the old saying goes power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely. So the rest of the world is supposed to be wary and critical of the US simply because the US isn't going to stop and think about what we (the rest of the world as you see it) care about or what is necessarily good for us. So if I feel the US is doing something that is wrong or is against the best interests of my nation I am going to say it. That isn't called US bashing. That's called criticism. US bashing is something you'd expect to hear from an Iranian Propoganda speech. But here alot of people are interested in what is really going on and we all have opinions. Just because an opinion doesn't agree unequivicably with the American line does not make it an unintellectual flame. If anything you are guilty of flaming and bashing us (again the world at large) without actually presenting a solid argument. This is a message board. This one in particular is about world events much of the time. The US is the most influential power in the world. That means that the US will be at the centre of alot of our discussions. Every great power (and many smaller ones) dont do the right thing. The US is special because its mistakes have much bigger consequences than the smaller nation's.
So I think it is you who ought to get of his high horse and accept the criticism that comes with being top dog. Even if you don't agree with a single thing I say you ought at least acknowledge my right to say it. Don't be petty and dismiss every criticism of America because I have yet to see you acknowledge that your country has done anything wrong or at least not react venemously to a criticism by anotehr member.
I know my country is guilty of many transgressions. So is yours. The difference is that your country holds the world in balance. We can't afford alot of screw ups.
