Hi All.Anyone know if U-Boot.RealSim site is likely to recover from being hacked? It provides a hell of a lot of mods for SH3 and I for one miss it. Is there an alternative site perhaps?RR
The biggest problem is cost.
Running a site with that many mods and as much bandwidth as they use takes quite a bit of cash.So what Terrapin is doing without charging for you to log on to download to help pay some of the cost of the site is above and beyond the call.
It is a problem that the site is hardly updated anymore and is being hacked. However unless someone takes up the cost of running a site to upload mods to we are going to just have to deal with what we have and wait to see what happens with Terrapins site.

Can you make a list of the mods Terrpin's site has/had that are not presently in the Subsim Downloads section? We can add all but the massive 50+MB mods for regular download.
thanks:up:

There is a pile of them though, he has pretty much every mod ever made by anyone, and i think even old versions too.

Yeah Terrpin had just about everything that was ever created for SH3, not sure you would be able to host it all Neal.
I wonder why a lot of mod creators dont use FileFront to host their files. I know you have to sign up and create an account to host files with them which takes a little time, but I think once you have an account and upload files they stay on FileFront forever. I have files hosted from the end of last year and there still around for download...
Since Terrpin's site is down I have been looking through the mod list on the forum here to download some mods I want to try, but you cant even download 70% of the mods on that list because they were uploaded on sites like rapidshare and are no longer available because rapidshare deletes uploaded files after so long. If we had a mod list with direct links to the download page on a site like FileFront, then Terrpin wouldnt need to pay for a site at all, and we could still download the mods we want when we like.
(Correct me if im wrong, but I have not seen any limits to the number of files you can upload, the size of the files, and how long they are hosted on FileFront.)
EDIT: Just looked on filefront and I'm correct, the files and stats are unlimited.
