Did I mess up

Well I was on my 2nd mission of my first campain with GW installed. Well my grid was just west of Ireland's SW corner. So in my typical :arrgh!: style I decided to run the channel with my VIIB. I figured since the war had just broke out mines wasnt a issue yet ,,,,,,I guess :hmm: . Well I got to the mouth of the channel and went under , did a good hydrophone scan myself and watched them for 20 minutes looking for a pattern so I could get a opening.Well it looked like I could make a surface full speed run almost in sight of dover and be in the more favorable waters of the mid channel by day light. Well I was making good time when this little armed trawler came out of the south so I turned NW :damn: . Well by this time it was almost light when I heard the crew calling out ship spotings so I scaned the horizon ,I could see Dover and it was packed:huh: :hmm: . I figured it would be a good time to stop for breakfast at harbor ,a british harbor:arrgh!:. There was a flower guarding the gates and a V&W off in the distance so I sumerged . I made it right to the opening when I heard the flower change course in my direction:huh: shortly after he disappered in the sound of my engines . So I went silent and slowed to 2 knots , shortly after I heard death charges but they were way behind me ,either Im lucky or I was about to be up the creek. I was luck he had droped them in a line a few hundred yards behind me and started to circle where he thought I was. I figure Id better see what the VW was doing and he was makeing a beline for south of the flower ,whew. Well I get into the harbor I decide I better raise the periscope to see if my trip was worth it.

I thought I had died went to heaven . Tube 1 set at 13 meters Mag open fire no TDC , Tube 2 3 meters Impact 15*s open fire,tube 5 standard settings fire. The J class got hit first broke in 2 and went down , 40 seconds later a torpedo exploded under the bow of the passenger and with massive secondary explosions the ship went down like a brick. The troop ship to a hit but didnt budge . So I fired fish number 3 at it ,while that was inbound I did a sweep with the periscope and noticed the flower and the VW were still playing to the south. But when I got to the harbor opening something caught my eye it looked like a wake with out a ship so I zoomed in it was PT boat comeing strait in. Perscope down to the hydrophone station ,I listened for the PT boat she can into the harbor hard and made a J hook stoping about a 100 meters north of me, then she disappered. So I figured she stop and is waiting for me to take a look.So I figure it wouldnt be long before the PT big brothers role in on me .

So I came up with a plan, Im going to back in between the passenger ship and the docking shes listing aginst it so I figure theres no way they can get to me. Ill wait for them to give up and head home. Well then RL intervined , my loving GF told me it was time to put the game down . :shifty: but Im living at HER house and using her DSL so to keep things :sunny: I have to submit , Plus the couch doesnt sleep good :rotfl:So I saved the game sumerged ,like I didnt have enuff problems in the game right now. So do yall think it will load back ok , and will I get out alive?

I don't think you need to hide unless you think you were detected. Just need to be mindful of the minefields & subnets near the entrance. If it were me take it slow and give the 2 warships dropping DC's a wide berth. Either that or wait in the harbor until the 2 warships give up and go back to their patrol routes. Then go out the way you came. It being 1939 the ASW capabilites are not good yet. However if you had tried this in say 1941 or 42 ..... Kiss you butt goodbye:huh:

Saving while submerged is not recommended but at times you have no choice as RL gets in the way:nope:
I have saved submerged and had no problems but other people have

Id stay were you are but surface , the listing passanger should cover you enough to give you time recharge your batteries and get some fresh air... :p

Like the others said, unless you're detected, don't worry so much about the V & W and the Flower, just keep knocking down the ships--sink that that troop transport when you get the chance--and make sure that the two warships don't detect you, and you'll be fine.

Sound like Dover to me, last time I went playing in there took the cruisers out (I think there Dido class took on the passenger liner and fired 2 torps at the troopship at the same time the problem was when the liner blew up she took the troopship out as well which I got no credit for.:damn:

The game loaded fine.Whew
Ok I started for the door and noticed 3 war ships headed in , so I fired a spread of 3 torpedos at the 2 parked cruisers. Then I backed under the passenger ship to see what happened. Well with in a couple minutes there were 2 VW , a flower ,PT inside with me and of course the 2 were still out side. The ships inside got in positions facing the middle of the harbor ,one VW on each side with the flower watching the door ,AI surprised me very cordinated.Well I backed around to behind the troop figuring I could surface behind it and open fire on it with my deck gun. I got behind it fine and started shelling on it when all hell broke lose. Apparently I had been drifting back and exposed the aft of my ship. Every thing in the port open fire on me inclueding one of the cruisers. The troop ship caught most of the incoming fire and went down very quickly but I didnt like being behind it now losing my kill to FF. I decide it was time to leave this party so I sumerged and started out around the north end of the troop ship. All was going well untill I fully cleared the troop the sub came to a grinding halt , I had hit the bottom :doh: . I was stuck stuck too I raised my periscope and it was dry not a foot out the tube tryed backing up and foward nothing. GEEZ ..... I took a quick peep though the scope and apparently they heard me or maybe my tower broke the surface because black smoke was poring out there pipes and they were starting to move:huh: ,I was up the creek . So I figured :hmm::arrgh!:I was going to have to shoot my way out :arrgh!:. I went to the TDC and done about the fastest work I ever done there and let 4 fish go . 2 on the closest VW one on the other one and one for the flower. At the same time I blew the balist and full crewed the engine room and gave the flank ahead order.If my fish missed I would need to be moving hopfully I would be to close to the DD for there big guns.U-53 Broke the surface as soon as it did I unmaned the tower there was no need to get my guys shot:rotfl:. What happened next was a blur but the VWs went down,well one didnt sink but the crew left their stations. My conning tower and deck gun took a beating and even the cruiser opened fire on me but luck was with me , I got back under with nothing in the harbor to chase me. I think the flower was still floating but it did come out after me. My batteries died about 18 km from dover so I surfaced and high tailed it out of there. I finished the patrol with 27,??? tons ,should have been 37,000 but I lost a kill to a fuji or dido :rotfl:
