What a hiatus, been in Sunny Darwin for 6 weeks, will be fun getting used to the game again, anyone else had a "long" break from the game ?

I'll be hanging up the virtual captains hat (again) before too long. I'll probably go back to playing/modding Oblivion for awhile, then surface here again after a month or three.

Last played SH3, or last loaded SH3?

I last loaded SH3 yesterday. I last played SH3 nearly 4 months ago.

Hopefully the latest release of SH3Cmdr will go smoothly <touch wood>, in which case I'll be off to actually re-acquaint myself with playing SH3 again for enjoyment.

Then I'll be keenly testing the next release of The Grey Wolves (there are some new features I simply can't *wait* to play with), then after its release I think I'll be taking a back seat, at least until SH4 gets here!

I havent touched SH3 for an year!
When I got the game just I played a lot with my Friends online....after they got bored and moved on, I continued the Stock SH3 career for a while but that got bored....so...I moved on with other games for an year, and after some time I met an old buddy that still plays SH3...And when I surfed the web I came up on this page...and start the career again and after GW I,m going to enjoy this game for an long time

Same here, stopped playing SH3 about a year ago, until I saw i Grey Wolves screenshot on a Norwegian gaming forum. I came back here, and discovered that Grey Wolves is not just cool, its GREAT.

Hi

Stopped playing 5-6months ago.

Reason: There is no big "up and down"-effect when shipping the rough sea for example. Your sub should be more shakened when in rough sea. There is no big physical difference of the boat when in calm sea or in rough sea - except the wave heights differs. Well, still waiting for such a mod ;)

But nice to see, that there are still really good mods out for SH3. Maybe Ill try some in a few days. GW looks good ;)

Well, I am just new, discovered the game just a week ago. I had then added GW mod, and use SH COmmander and SHGen, what makes this wonderfull and immersive expierience.

About the up and down effect, well, with SHCommander I did set the waves Seasonal, and they were big in a storm just below the Irish coast. I did had to let go a target due to the bad weather. Followed the poor merchant for a couple of hours, but after spilling one torpedo I decided it had just pure luck. I went, further SE, en after a day or so got slightly better weather, where I found another victim who I sunk.

Anyhow, we were shaking all over..

I am recovering from a head injury and I can't work or lift more than 20 pounds for the next few weeks.
Even walking more than two blocks makes me woozy.

So the good part is I've been playing SH3 pretty constantly for several days! :)

Even SH3 makes me tired, after a while. But its nice to be back into the game - and just in time for the new release of Commander, too!

Take care with your head then.. slow ahead.. lol.

I am also looking into the mission design part.. where I live, a lot had happened what is barely known, Operation Switchback area.
After DDay the Germans are been pushed up north and escaped by boat over the river Scheld, Netherlands. I remember as a kid seeing the Uboat nets here ashore. A massive heap of steel rings. I'm just 40 years old, so you have an idea how long they have been laying here..
Anyhow, after Antwerp was lost to the Allies, convoys started to come in there, while the rest of the Netherlands was in German hands for a winter..
So, you can imagine it has mission potential, just look at the map, a giant death trap for uboats..

According to my career files my last save was on March 27th, 2006. But, hey ya gotta give the sim a break every once in a while or it starts to become stale. Or is that heresy?

This holds true for all immersive games, you like it so much, then you have an OD. It can take months to recover, if you evently do.. if..

I have the same with Flightsim, been a real buff on that for years, but its almost gone. After all you seen it all, no more suprises and so.

It comes back in waves, but each time they seem to be smaller..

I've played SHIII consistently for the 16 months it's been out. I only stopped last week when I lost my apartment; as soon as I have a new place I'm back at sea.

I've played with the 'Big Waves' mod for many months now, and it's included with SH3 Commander. Then interior of my boat is quite violent, so much so that I dive so I don't get seasick. Don't know where you've been that you missed it.

Hi steve.

With a missing "up and down"-effect I mean there is no physical difference of the subs' movement depending the wave heights. If big waves are coming, they just roll over the bridge. If you choose twice big waves the bridge is just deeper under the surface, but the sub itself isnt affected by bigger waves...its just the bridge which is more or less under the surface. Just have a look on the horizon and you see what I mean ;) Its just the same physic, same motion, no matter which wave heights you have choosen ;)

Hope that explained it ;)

Okay, the bridge. I think I do see what you mean. I thought you meant the control room, which to me rocks quite a bit.
