I think so...I mean, wouldn't we all want our women to be like her? God's sake...all the girls I met hate war films...all into these soppy films. :damn: Can you imagine having a lady where you can discuss the finer points of tactical warfare? All women want to talk about is what Sue said to Shirley and how Mat (Sarah's boyfriend) is seeing someone else behind her back. :damn:

Then you have Avon lady...where you can talk about the benfits of an M4 over an M16... You can REALLY talk to this bird, not like I do now and just grunt or the occassional "yes"...without knowing what I just said.

Man...if she wasn't taken...I'd be right in there. :cry:

So, Avon. What game was it, that got you into playing??
Novalogic's first Delta Force game. I downloaded the demo and - POOF - I was hooked.

OFP is still amazing and I'm anxiously looking forward to the sequel, Armed Assault (ArmA).

With Delta Force games, you could just hop into an MP game at anytime. This flexibility allowed me to play a lot of MP, even if not in large contiguous amounts of time. I went crazy over some CTF maps but my favorite role was sniping from 1.5km away with my Barret. I was also very cruel with a k-bar knife in hand. Woohoo!

OFP doesn't allow you to join an MP game already in progress (ArmA will). As such, I rarely had the chance to meet server game schedules. In addition, I devoted so much time to my OFP FAQ that I hardly had any actual time left for gaming - even SP. But I did succeed in publishing numerous modified SP missions and campaigns, including my "Pigs Can Fly" campaign, which showed off a great A-10 Warthog addon by some named Diesel. I also developed an elementary resource database method, called AMORE (Avon's Multimedia for Ofp REpository), which makes it much easier to reuse audio and script files in multiple missions. Unfortunately, it never gained wide popularity.

I wound up buying SH3 because I had previously played the demos of Enigma: Rising Tide and I subsequently bought the game. Besides being fun, the advantages in these sub games is my control of my real life schedule, though playing SH3 as a member of the WaW team was extremly time consuming.

So there you have this online warrior's career in a nutshell. ;)

I consider myself lucky to have an other half that loves playing BF1942, and can even take me on in Desert Combat (she's a dab hand in a T-90 as me and my mate have found out :oops: ).
I've yet to try her on Forgotten Hope though...:D

On the other hand...I have a very good friend, she's called Arwen. For me, she's the coolest female on the net and in real life. Not to mention that she's more of a man than a thousand men.....when she wants to.

We watch sub movies....we're both of german origin, her boss is Rommel, my boss is Doenitz.....we read the same books...we play the same games....and we're in the same counter-strike clan.

I've never handled a real gun and I won't for religious reasons.

But my husband was the fastest in his troop of 30 somethings in disassembling and assembling his M16, even in the dark. :yep:

Maybe I should try the equivalent with my Kenwood mixer. :hmm:

Well i have a lady friend that is a RPGer (role playing gamer) to the max, her gaming conversations drive me friggin nuts,:rotfl: She has been a rpger ever since the early 90's, has written alot of reviews for gaming sites and magazines (rpg sites of course) has a huge rpg figurine collection, all the Rpg Guides books you could think off, and orders her games only from Japan, the Japanese games only come in Japanese language so she learnt japanese just for this!. Any rpger would know that the biggest developers in role playing games is japan they have thousands of them, only a 3rd of there games reach the rest of the world. She is a dedicated gamer and anti piracy campaigner. Her collection of rpg games has reached the 1500+ mark and counting and for all platforms consoles and PC's. Our conversations is games, games, and more games! She practically doesn't do anything else in her life. :rotfl:

Agree. I totally hate gossipers and must state woman are the worse for this. (I must state with helmet on Avon does not gossip!)Anyways nothing else better to do in there lifes but create gossip and sometimes ruin ppls lives. It should be considered a law - caught gossiping you get 6months in jail :yep:
I remeber a few years ago now my cousin who lived in the same town as me was murdered. He was a collector of fast cars had a garage full of them a really cool generous bloke who would go out of his way helping ppl. One afternoon driving into town he stopped to pick up two young guys hitchhiking, they shot him in the side and pushed him out of the car, yet his arm was entangled in the seatbelt so when they drove off he was dragged up the road. The police said he was just a piece of meat when they found him, what made it worse is he would of been alive when pushed out and dragged. :nope: Anyway the point is we both had the same name "Frank" and his middle name was Frank so the gossip that spread around town was that i was the one murdered. Frank the bushmen is dead! oh how did he die, oh i think it was some accident while out shooting etc., just all BS. I'll never forget the day two weeks after my cousin was buired i went into town to put the gossip at rest. Seeing the gasp of the gossipers as i walked up the street was the best revenge i could manage:smug: They were speechless :yep:

Take into account I haven't played a game in about 2 weeks now...purely because I'm too tired. Yet you effing sados post on here AND play games. I purely post on here...1 forum...and yes I post whilst maybe I should be doing more boring stuff....like paperwork...but I manage both in the end.

Also take into account I'm my own boss...because while you lot have been wasting your life away I was smart enough to build my little asset empire, and now don't need a boss to feed me... Jealous much? :arrgh!:

Interesting...I first got hooked in MP games with Delta Force too.

My farthest shot with the Barrett was a little less than 3,000 meters (friend and I were competing for distance shots and that's how I ended up....with the winning shot).

My best shot with the Barrett was (I think) at 1700 meters on a running man (dont remember the name it was also on a desert map). That .50 was really cool. Until MOH came around.

Does your religious beliefs therefore also indicate, as this verse from the same book spells out so clearly and with no ambiguity, that adulterers are to be executed? Or do you just cherry pick which parts of the Old Testament to believe in?

Another favourite selection from Deuteronomy:

13:6 If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers...

13:9 But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.

Do you believe that you have a God given obligation to murder those who convert to other faiths as well Avon? Just curious by such things having had my interest in religious dogma awakened by our recent discussions on it.

All major Jewish legal authorities forbid women from serving in the military.

Israel's military is mostly seculalrly run, with some special conditions for religious soldiers, including religious women who nevertheless decide to serve in the military.

Adultery is a capital crime. Nothing new here. I believe this has been discussed a long time ago here on the forums.

There are numerous sins which the Torah lists as capital crimes.

Heresy is also a capital crime.

This, too, has been discussed. You might want to google around to find out why Jewish courts have not tried capital cases for over 2000 years.

There's also this famous Mishna on the subject:

"A Sanhedrin (High Court) that executes once in seven years is called a destroyer. Rabbi Elazar ben Azariah says: (even) once in 70 years.".

And in order to convict anyone of a capital crime, there must be 2 actual eyewitnesses (no circumstantial evidence allowed) and the witnesses must have forwarned the individual(s) involved of their potential crime and its consequences.

G-d made it very difficult for mankind to ever reach the necessary conditions to arrive at a conviction. And when the worst of crimes became commonplace and indeed such executions began taking place more often, the Rabbinic leaders of those times canceled the Torah's own laws and capital cases were no longer tried.

I'll quote an appropriate portion from the article Capital Punishment and Curbing Crime (http://www.aish.com/torahportion/kolyaakov/Capital_Punishment_and_Curbing_Crime.asp):

But what then are we to do with all of the verses in the Torah delineating all the capital consequences and punishments of transgressions? The Torah was not simply wasting its time in an exercise in futility. So why does the Torah list and threaten numerous punishments if they are not easily designed ever to be carried out?

The answer is this. The mark of social stability, morality, and lack of crime within any society is not necessarily based on the number of criminals who are actually convicted. What matters most is not how many arrests we make but the very fact that we put a law on the books and make a statement of what our values are. It is of utmost importance for a society to prohibit and make adultery illegal. Whether it is practical or possible to enforce such a law is irrelevant. We need to make the strong declaration that adultery is patented evil, regardless. We must make statements explaining our values.

Murder is unacceptable and deserving of death, whether we are able to punish all murderers or not.

We may think that it doesn't matter very much when we firmly state our morals even without the ability to carry out punishment. But it matters very much. The difference is the entire pulse and tone of our society. Children grow up with a sense of right and wrong in their outlooks and understanding when we clearly and cogently state our morals and values. This is especially true of charges of adultery against women in the Islamic judicial system, where so many women have been killed, often based on little more than heresay.

BTW, for the purpose of this discussion, the Judaic meaning of adultery refers to the act of consensual sexual intercourse between any man and a betrothed or married women. To the best of my knowledge, adultery in Islam is defined as also applying to unmarried women but then it is not a capital crime but rather subject to 100 lashes.

To the point, there is nothing about The Avon Lady to indicate an absence of that which is good.* However, not being aware of all of the other females that are on the net, I am clearly underqualified in placing her at the top of such a pool

Might I add that as a potential customer of this site, that puts me right off. See, now I'm in a dilemma...do I order the Naval Combat Pack or not? You know, it's like going into a store and being harassed by one of the customers just because I happened to make a nice remark to a cashier. Would you buy anything in that shop if none of the staff did anything about being harassed?

Yeah, I respect Avon Lady and consider her a very nice person...never seen a horrible word from her after all these years, even when she was attacked by some Nazi jerk on the UBI (SH3) forums. Do I fancy her? No...I need to see a woman before I can make a judgement. Do I like Israeli women? Yes...they are some of the most attractive on the planet...and if you don't think so, you've never met any. Do I like Israelis in general? ...just to answer you, no, this isn't the worst harassment I suffered...I was attacked by a hammer weilding thug 2 years ago...in the end, it was him that nearly ended up dead (not that I wanted it that way). He attacked me cos he was trying to kill a woman...I was just passing by at the time. And don't bother notifying the police...went to court already. :up: Anyway, I think that was slightly more serious harassment.

edit: Oh yeah...and before criticising people about "not going out"...yeah it's a Saturday night and I'm in...so what? Do you know my life? No...so don't judge me. Go out...witness a woman getting set upon by a man with a hammer...which he then turns on you...you luckily take him out, though unfortunately you nearly kill him in the process...lose your job cos you stay up worrying if you'll be prosecuted for 6 months...then be awarded a stupid medal for saving a womans life...turn it down....not offered counselling or anything...not that I need it....but oh yeah..wait a sec...I think I'll go out!

I have often said that the internet posesses the rare quality of reducing what are normally amiable members of society to the status of squabbling children. Ah delta force I, one of my old favorites, i also was a sniper (and pretty leathal too) though i prefered i think it was the remington 700 over the barret (barret was too big, too noisy, too cumbersom) the 700 was more of a scalpel. I got the nickname Ghost from the people who i would play with as was rarely ever spotted. Pitty cheaters started to wreck multiplayer (especialy with DF3 where cheating was rampant)

OFP was another great game, one of my top favs. Im also eagerly awaiting the next incarnation.

As for Avon Lady being the coolest female on the net. Well i wouldnt make such a broad statement, but she certainly has my respect, her posts generaly tend to be worth reading and well thought out. I think she certainly adds to the community in general :) But there are several other women gamers, etc out there too who are also "cool"

Lastly as for Judaism, the Torah, and Jewish law. Well i will avoid the discussion as discussion of religion typicaly leads to grief. I will say that the Torah is an interesting book, and trying to decide what each passage "realy means" has been a never ending source of conversation, discussion and debate by rabbi's and scholars alike, as i understand partly because old hebrew does not have any verbs.

Well, sometimes this place suffers from a considerable ammount of under-moderation. Laissez-faire is nice and well, but one could exaggerate it. Especially when violaters use that freedom to spread their infection.
