I am waiting for the ships in a convoy heading towards me but the rough sea keeps covering my periscope so when I lock on a T3 and fire, then a wave comes over the scope and I lose the lock, and then when I can see again there are 2 T3s so I don't know which one I fired at, and there are 5 warships looking for me and the ships are scattering, so it's impossible to know which one I hit before. Anyone ever had this problem?

:hmm: the only luck you can have is that the ship you fired:
1. starts to slow down (Engin compartment hitted)
2. or is leaning heavily somewhere. like his bow or his stern.
that the only thing that could help. but you must be lucky that u have the time to observe the T3's
If you're losing contact with your targets because of choppy weather then I think realism settings are doing their job.:p Sometimes I think these games make people take for granted how hard being a soldier or a sailor or a fighter pilot is. I mean these guys were heroes for a good reason. These guys could take hours to track a target orwait for the right moment to attack. And luck, both bad and good, played major roles in the North Atlantic. To mymind the only way to overcome this problem is to: A) Get better at tracking your targets, or B) Get lucky and take a wild guess. Welcome to the real war lad.:damn:
If I remember right, in choppy seas things started to go wrong for U-505. The waves were constantly either covering the periscope or exposing the sub's conning tower. I allways wondered why they didn't make the periscope tubes longer.

No room to make the tubes any longer realy (i belive they are solid pieces not telescoping). Usualy in rough seas i will raise myself up just enough so that the periscope isnt going under (a bit of spray is ok). Though this will occasionaly expose the top of your conning tower, this actualy isnt a problem because when your conning tower is exposed its because its in a valley in the waves, and unless hostile ships are realy close they wont be able to see it due to the wave peaks around the conning tower, in reality (not sure about in game) the wave action would also prevent radar detection of the conning tower (again the peaks would block the signal) though it may pick up the scope.
As for which ship you hit, well you have a couple of options, first look for any signs of damage on either, or fire or smoke, second take a listen with your hydrophones and see if either is going slower (or not making any sounds).
I have to say though ive rarely had a problem figuring out which ship i hit, i usualy take a good close look at all ships in the area before firing, i dont let my periscope get washed out constantly. And i know which ship in the line i shot at. If forced to pull down my scope and or dive ill try to track the target with hydrophones.
