-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This match will happen tomorrow, July 1st. It is the last one of the quarter finals, the winner will play against Portugal or England. Some say this game will be Brazil's revenge over the 98 cup final, when France won by 3X0.
Post your bets and opinions about the match.

Unfortunately I have to go with a Brasil victory.

My dream scenario would be a win for France because if England make it to the semis I fancy them to beat France rather than Brasil . That would set up the tantalising prospect of an England v Germany final

France can't win without buying their victory like they did in the last final.

France, though at narrow margin. There team has more homogeneity, and they are more cold-blooded. Brazil has good technical individuals, but not really a team so far, and a less disciplined temperament - but that is needed against the French.

Halftime. 5:2 goal shots for France. Two yellows for Brazil - that is lucky that after the foul against Vierra it is still playing with a complete team, that emergency foul was clearly worth a red - the French would have been up and away.. Also, Ronaldo'S hand-goes-to-ball-play inside the cone must have been a penalty kick. Advantages for France so far. Not a good game. And look at that gap between Brazil's midfield and attackers...

Victory for France. As was to be expected after the first half. The referee made another two serious mistakes close to the end and again against the French (freekick for the Schwalbe bei Ronaldo, no cornerkick for the French in the 89th minute).

welcome to the european cup semifinals 2006

Yes :yep:, but until Brazil starts playing like a team and not 10 individual players i don't have any hope for them.

Look at the history of the World Cup. No South American team has ever won in Europe, except once which was Brazil in '58. No European team has ever won in South America. So anyone who put Brazil or Argentina as favourites were ignorant of that fact....and had the odds firmly stacked against them

Why South American teams are bad here and vice versa...I have no idea.

Brazil`s walking football worked against mediocre teams, but whn they meat a World class opponent it wasn`t enough. The French ran circles around them. Technique is of no use if you don`t make runs in attack, preferebly more than one player at a time.
Zidane put in the performance of the tournament so far.

Zidane behaved as should be expected from the "world's best".

But Henry is the greatest irony of the match.

He said, before the match, that the Brazilian players were better because they grew up playing football, all the time, non-stop, since they didn't go to school, but players like Henry had to study 8 hours a day and thus had less time to practice.

Well, the best team won, and guess what, Henry was not only wrong, but the victory goal was scored by him!
