Sound problem - and this one has me stumped?

Hello,

Ok my problem is these certain sound files ie; my AA gun, deck gun, plane exploding on impact, round hitting boat, boat exploding are either not working or they are cut off or delayed, for example my AA gun when firing I'll only hear the 5th round and the rest are quite? my deck gun souns like a rubber band being flung or iy's turned into a mozzie.

I've checked the sound files and their all there, I've checked the the level of sound and it's correct, when I listen to them seprate from the game they all sound fine.

I've even download files & rei-nstalled the entire game to see if that would help...but no joy. I being playing this game for two years and modded up and down and across, but this is insane. most of the other files seem to be working fine it just seem to be the outside nosies that are screwed up.

I hope this is enough to help me with my SILENT Hunter problem.:hmm:

sounds like you need to adjust the sound card acceleration to me, i had a similar problem with a game called oblivion, i had to buy a new sound card. if its not this then i would try a reinstall

Might not help, but have you read (assuming you use SH3Cmdr), the following FAQ:

Q: Since using SH3 Commander I can no longer hear speech or most sound effects. What sound files does SH3 Commander overwrite?
A: SH3 Commander does not overwrite any game sound files. This problem will occur if you set the "Character animations", "Sound effects" and/or "Particle rendering" Time Compression events to 1. Reset each event back to the default value and try again (a Rollback is not sufficient to reset these settings). If your problem persists, scrutinise any new mods that you have installed since you last had full sound.

Failing that it maybe your sound drivers, may have gotten corrupted.:-?
Check that your sh3.sdl file is ok. Since you have even done a complete reinstall it tends to point to system/board/driver problem, do you have any sound problem with other games?

No Sir,

All other games work well. I've tried the SH3 commander compression setting and no joy. Reinstall - no joy, listened to files and they sound normal, re-checked SH3 commander copression setting and it is set on default, ahh the wonders of this new problem.

Most unusual as these are only wav files! sh3.sdl file is sh3's mixer, & if only some of the sounds are stuffed you would think that it would be this file or the wav files themselves!:-? Just a thought but does your "sound card/onboard sound" have settings in control panel? maybe a mixer setting here such as echo! or you could check the file type associations to the wav file,:yep: if I think of anything else will let you know!:up:
