Germany: Sweden
Argentina: Mexico

The winners play against each other in the next round.

"Summertime, and the livin' is easy,
Fish are jumpin' and the cotton is high.
Oh! Your Daddy's rich and your Ma is good lookin'
So, hush little baby, don't you cry...

One of these mornin's you gonna rise up singin'
Then you'll spread your wings, and you'll take to the sky
But 'till that mornin' there's a nothin' can harm you
with Daddy and Mammy standin' by.."

My bets :

Germany draw with Sweden and wins at the penalty kicks.
Argentina wins by 3-0 over Mexico.

 bit bizaare really but i hope Germany win..as England are incapable of beating Sweden no matter what the cirumstances are --so we have more chance statistically against the Germans..

Argentina v Mexico should be a cracker. The highlight of the round, though, will be Holland v Portugal.

Germany are doing well against Sweden. Did anyone really doubt it?

Listening to the commentary on the Normally sober 5 live. They opened the game with the immortal comment " And the Patriotic fervour here in Germany is the greatest we have seen in 60 years!!" Lol. Don't mention the war and all that...:D

Good one:).

Anybody noticed the difference between Ibrahimovic (SWE) and Klose (GER)?
One guy was injured and is not really fit, the other guy is in the best form of his life.
This is Klose's world cup so far. Big names mean nothing, if the players are out of form.
The German team does not "only have one Ballack", big mistake!

Argentina : Germany to meet in the quarterfinals, that is great. Argentina won the world cup final 1986 against Germany and Germany won the world cup final 1990 against Argentina. The match has a lot of world cup history involved. The winner of this quarterfinal match won't be afraid of anybody.

Today is time to sit back and relax and watch Holland:Portugal and England:Ecuador play. I am curious, how Holland and later England will perform. Good luck anyway!

One guy was injured and is not really fit, the other guy is in the best form of his life. Neat point. This is where major competitions are won and lost.

Big names mean nothing, if the players are out of form. I'm reserving this for England's epitaph

But thats been a problem for your boys for a while now. There doesn't seem to be any real team spirit there. All the rumours of club loyalties getting in the way would certainly seem to have some substance. England are fine when things are going there way but don't really seem able to dig in when they need too. I still maintain that Eriksson was never the guy for you. Far far too laid back for dealing with English players.
