Need help going back to version 1.2

I am need of some help here, please. I have been away from Silent Hunter 3 for over a year and decided to resume playing again. My version 1.2 was still working just fine, everything looked right and played right. So I download and install 1.4b and now I always get crashed to desktop on the the load after the intro movie but right before the menu.

I uninstalled then reinstalled with a clean 1.0, loaded the game started a new career and everything was working fine, so I patched up to 1.4b again. Once again the crashes happen at the exact same spot before the menu loads. It would be simpler to go back to what worked. Much to my aggrevation though, I seemed to have deleted the 1.2 patch some time ago and cannot find another. Would someone please point me to where a version 1.2 US DVD patch is? Thank you very much for any help provided.

There are plenty of site that still have the patch availble. Like:

I also have all versions of SHIII that ever excisted. So do not hesitate to contact me if you have any problems downloading from the web.

A better site for patch downloads is http://patches.ubi.com/silent_hunter_3 since it also has all EMEA patches.

You should try it again with patch 1.4, make sure that you delete the main SH3 dir and also mydocuments\sh3 after you´ve uninstalled SH3.

Thank you both for the patch sites. I am very appreciative of Gizzmoe's tip. It seems the old SHIII documents were causing the crash. A clean install patched up to 1.4b with new career saved the day. It works! I am happy!
