Watch Officer order response problem

I just started using SH III after doing a lot of flight simming. I ran into the following problem. When on the surface I'm able have the Watch Officer get sufficient crew on deck to man any of the surface guns. All orders are followed until the order to fire at will is given. There is no response and nothing happens so I have to man the gun myself which works fine. I rebooted and reinstalled, but that did not help.

Does anyone know what might be causing the problem ?

There are other variables after giving the order to fire at will.

In terms of targeting, you can say, closest target, furthest target, closing target ect.

Then there ranging variables, or where to target.


IN terms of deck guns, i tend to set it to fire at the waterline.

In terms of AA guns, i set it to fire will, and engage closing targets only.


There is an old, and easily fixable bug with the AA guns. Occasinaly they will not fire. If you man the guns yourself manually, point the gun at what you want them to fire at, squeeze off a few rounds, the AI usually picks it up again once you go back to the bridge. Think of it as a "here dummy, let me show you how to do this!" kind of thing.

I'll bet your watch officer took an Dump in the toilet while Depth Charged from Destroyers the shaking of ur Sub caused all the Sh!t in the toilet going over your Watch officer so Clearly he's still has some Poo inside his Ear.:arrgh!: let him take a Shower beforce going for watch
