Please help.
I'm using 1.4b. When in career mode while on patrol I get a message that a radio report has come in. When I go to the radio room and try to receive the message it say there is no report.
Any ideas or help?

So I assume you're hitting "M" to check your messages?

Ha! It took me awhile to figure that one out. I'm not big into reading directions and all. But I think I finally did read that somewhere and was like "Oh snap!"

At least you get messages. I can't remember the last time I got one. I'm running the same version with no mods.

The only messages I've gotten, besides enemy convoy positions, is "Keep up the good work!" after I sent a report. I'm running a few mods, mostly graphics, but no super mod.

My thanks to all.
"M" was my problem. I now can get my messages.
I'm also going to try the link for more messages to see what this offers.
I do appreciate your quick responses. I wound up playing till 4 a.m. this morning.
Enjoy!

Will someone please direct me to the "heavy/lite radio" mod site?
Hopefully,

Look for 'Radiolog 1233' and 'Radiolog lite'. The difference is the lite version only gives you procedural signals. The full version has many distress calls and u-boat reports. If you have your game set to go to normal time anytime you get a radio message, the full version can get annoying. Me, I love it.
Heh it also took me some time after I discovered the "M" button.
Same with the hydrophone, I heard that you can use it but I just couldn't acces it from the control room

I on the other hand am getting sick to death of those radio message I generally releive my radio man of his duties
Where is the Radio Messages area in the 3d view of the sub? I can get to it using 'M', but I can't find it anywhere in the sub interior. I've looked all over the place including replacing the radio and sonar officer.
I managed to find the captain's log after much searching, which is placed near the damage map in the interior aft of the command room.
Also when you do switch to a 2d-view (periscope/navigation map/TDC/etc) from the 3d view, let's say the crew/damage map, is there a way to return to the location in the sub from where you entered it? It seems like ESC will only quit from the game, and once you switch to that view the only way out is to use the side menu.
Seems to be that they didn't spend much time on the 3d movement aspect of the interface. I'm guessing no-one actually uses that view to move around?? Other than that, the game is fantastic!

I've started using it to move around and issue orders. Adds to the realism I think, but not especially useful when you need to make a quick manouevre and you're fiddling with the hydrophone!

Hehe, yeah what messages? I get none whatsoever, unless I send a patrol report which gets the same old, same old respnse so I just dont bother anymore. In fact I dont even see any point to having a man in the radio room for that matter.

I remember when I was in training it was like 'follow the radio messages closely!" and I kept getting them, but never knew about 'm' so just kinda sat there wondering when my Radio Guy was gonna mention things to me. :)
In the vanilla game there are to few messages, but in GW there are way to many! I think I hit a radio hot-spot near Gibraltar, and got hammered with messages. Strangely my boat keft floating although we had 30 tons of handwritten messages onboard.

Download IrishRed's 'RadioLog' mod. It includes hundreds of messages from 1939-1941. It's not complete, but he has promised that someday it will be.
Be aware, though:
1) The messages are real, but do not pertain to the game at all; they are just there for flavor.
2) You will find your Time Compression dropping to 1 many many times every patrol day.
