At what point will it become next to impossible to sneak into British ports such as Loch Ewe and Scapa Flow? I did it once in 1941 (Scapa Flow) and didn't encounter any subnets or such. Then decided to go on a suicide mission the other day and sneak into Loch Ewe in January 1943 (according to sh3gen there was a BB in there). Needless to say I got killed!

First hit a subnet and had to surface and speed ahead for .5km, then dove again only to hit a mine shortly thereafter. Bow completely destroyed and half the crew dead... :arrgh!: I guess I've got to get a IXD2 and go to distant ports instead...

But anyway, when is the latest that you guys have done this (key British ports, without using free view or periscope to navigate through stuff)? When do you suppose it becomes impossible?

The latest I ever been in LE was in the Back end of 44 when my base was changed to Bergan so really I had no problems getting into ports I even got into Dover once in an IXB in 45 takeing out 2 cruisers a liner and a troop transport so I can't see LE being any harder than dover. as for Scapa I don't even bother going in there after 41.

I'm new to the whole Sub Net / Mine business. And I think even at the start of the war you are rolling the dice everytime you enter a port. You may miss all the mines and think it's easy. Next time you might not be close to a ship and boom.

Well I did sneak on Scapa Flow on year 1944, just to bugger those funny brits.

The thing is that you have to go on daylight (Use snorkel, and stay underwater)
And use freecam to spot the subnets and mines.

And stay quiest as possible, you really don't wanna ruin all the preparing that brits did for to spot sneakers, not for U-boat rambo's.

They get sad because that is not challenging at all.
Brits are people too y'know ;)

I use the obs periscope to watch for mines and nets. If you go real slow you can avoid them when you spot them.
