Klackers! They have Clackers!
Its early 1944, and have been forced to give up my sports car Type II so Im wallowing around in a Type VII, and frankly, Im not that good at it.
A convoy showed up on my port side, & I couldnt avoid it without being court martialed so I loaded my top two torpedoes with Type IV fish, and the bottom two w/ Type Is.
I went in at periscope depth in the middle of the day, and sure enough here came a destroyer at 14 knots so I fired a Type IV at him at around 1500 meters.
He heard it coming, & veered off on a looping course. I figured I missed, & went in anyway to launch the two Type Is at the convoy, & then give up.
I launched, & was preparing to surface, & wave my naked posterior at the looping destroyer when the destroyer now behind me took a torpedo strike directly astern.
I zoomed in, saw the explosion, & the water guyser behind it, & expected to watch the destroyer sink. So I put my pants back on, & plotted a course out of the convoy.
To my distress, & astonishment, the destroyer did not sink but continued to sail blissfully on. I was considering becoming hysterical when I noticed the destroyer at least was not coming my way so I eventually snuck out of there.
So what happened?
Klackers! My Boy Klackers!
The Allies got tipped on german accoustic torpedoes, and began dragging noise makers behind them giving the fish something else to hit besides the destroyer itself.
Nicely done SH3!
Not only are the clackers modeled, but apparently the at least temporary blinding of the destroyers hydrophone-sonar sensors is also modeled.
Well Done.
