Being an Aussie, I have been known to partake in a beer or two *ahem*. I've tried most of the "world renown" beers, but have to say that my favourite beer comes from Vietnam - "333" (or ba ba ba to the locals). Perhaps not that well known on the world stage!
But gee it has a great strong taste. Just wish I could get it here in Canberra (not surprisingly it was everywhere in Melbourne's Eastern suburbs). :(

Whilst I don't drink anymore and haven't done so for years I do remember a horrific beer from Germany that I consumed many years back. It was called Eku28 or something similar sounding. It had the consistency of syrup and it's alcohol content was around 15% no kidding. Needless to say that a Carlsberg Elephant is a cakewalk and would be far more enjoyable compared to this Eku28 brew.
I would like to mourn the closing of the Young's brewery in Wandsworth. They are moving out to Bedfordshire.Young's Luton ale just is not going to do it for me

World's strongest beer :()1:
http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h254/RS42/360498.jpg
A brewery in the States has launched the world's strongest beer.
The drink - at 25% alcohol - is six times more powerful than a normal beer and twice the strength of a bottle of wine.
And at £56 a bottle, Samuel Adams Utopias is also among the world's most expensive.
Just 8,000 of the limited edition 24 oz tipple, sold in a copper kettle, have been brewed by the Boston Beer Company.
Brewery founder Jim Koch said the beer was designed to be enjoyed slowly as an after dinner tipple.
He said: "We are passionate about brewing quality, one-of-a-kind beer that amazes beer lovers and aficionados alike."
http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h254/RS42/Simpson.jpg Are yes give me some of that. :D
World's strongest beer :()1:
Intriguing, I thought the strongest naturally brewed beer was just about 20% because the alcohol kills the yeast. They must have worked hard on this one!

beer really isn't that good.
You guys are just programmed to like it because you've comformed your taste to peer pressure and social imagine.
sad really :nope:
Oh thanks for telling us (ME) why I like what I like. And making categorical assertions, please leave our thread kthxbye.
Ok, much has been mentioned already....let me add some of my faves.
Oktoberfest brews are great, but they MUSt be drunk in Munich during well Oktoberfest. Belgian beers are probably my fave in Europe...cherry lambic. German, Czech and ... French (ok Alsatian :know: ) lagers. Britian has so many nice brews, I was surprised by Young's dobule chocolate stout ncie beer. North America, you gotta stick with the microbrews ... from my hometown and province (Vancouver BC) Granville Island is nice , as is Okanagan Springs. From the East I am partial to Sleemans a commerical product but really not bad.
Here in Geneva there is a nice (large and always crowded) pub called "Les Brasseurs" (the Brewers) a brewpub...always make nice stuff including seasonal specials. Nice snacks and stuff including an Alsatian specialty called flammenkuche a kind of pizza type thing.
Wine is good too...but that's for another thread. BTW I am almost never drunk....I hate getting piss drunk ... did that a few times as a teenager. Sort of like eating til you want to burst.

Deep. Really makes me think about how I want to be like that monk on the Franzikaner bottle, or the Saint Pauly Girl. Now, if you will excuse me, I have to buy some Old Speckeled Hen so Steed will think I'm cool.
IT's
MONTY PYTHONS FLYING CIRCUS

You know the sketch
"Why is American beer like making love in a canoe?"
"Because it's *********g close to water."

This one looks good I've have to give it a go.

Drink in moderation is the answer. ;)
Yeah, although I can't say I don't like the feeling of being drunk...
I hate being drunk I should know :know: but I am older and wiser now, beer anyone.
