My new skipper, OLtn z. S. Walter Laucha with U140 just left Kiel base for his first operational patrol. BdU send him to BF31, Canal, Portland - Portsmouth area. Date is september 1940! I'm pretty sure BdU and Chief of staff have been drinking something else than just water. During that time (in RL) boats were withdrawn from the Canal area because there wasn't much enemy traffic anymore. It's even written in my opoder created by SH3Gen. Considering the boat and the captain to be newcomers, it's a pretty much asked to send them "into mouth of the wolf". :-j

I didn't get too much info about the situation on the oparea, so maybe they just wan't somebody take a quick look what's happening there. I'm just wondering why they didn't asked the Luftwaffe to do the job... :hmm: Bloody pilots... :shifty:

I just hope we don't find any mines there... :stare:

If you go around the British Isles and approach from the west, you might get away with it, but I can't guarantee anything.

Been nice knowing you. I'll drink a toast to your memory and be sure to pay a 'comforting' visit to your girlfriend.

Thanks guys! Really appreciate your good meaning wishes. Especially what Ducimus sent... ;)

Yep, I think Lauchas live will be interesting but a short one...

In 1940, not so bad I don't think. Stay submerged during the day, and move after each attack. Avoid the patrols and you should be fine.

I think you'll make it no sweat.

Yep. I decided to abandon the mission and start the career again. That mission gave me just feeling about the special mission and conseidering the situation overall, I didn't find it very realistic. So, no I'm heading to the AM98, Bristol canal, which sounds both fine and realistic.
