Has Anyone Else Noticed?

The clock in the game is always set for Zulu, or Greenwich Mean Time. If you hold the cursor over the time bar at the bottom, it not only gives you the date but the actual local time. Most of Germany is one hour earlier. While New York is four or five hours later.

I didn't notice until I created a career just to visit New York, and noticed the sun coming up at 11:00 hours!

Now I do my patrol logs in local time, and change the clocks every time I enter a new time zone.

Every patrol log ive ever posted that wasnt a direct copy and paste out of SH3 commander, has been in local time :P

One thing i noticed is that the clock is really screwed up when you start a patrol from a milk cow. Local time i think is still correct, the default time that is normally displayed seems different.

Yep, have known that quite a time. If I remember this feature came with some official patch, I think.
BTW, Steve, how do you keep your war diary? I do it with a notebook and pencil. Recently I have been thinking making just notes (little bit like a log book) and afterwoods write a "war diary" with PC. It would be fun to create a book looking "notebook" into the windows, but I don't know how to do it and what kind of programs I might need for that.

Same here, paper and pen. There is a neat looking Patrol Log that was made using Excell, but as I don't have Excell I just type it into WordPad.

My kneejerk assumption is the clock is set to wherever is local to you when you start out. Its the only answer i can come up with, and i think i might be wrong. I honestly didnt notice the clock seemed different until i was far away from the milk cow i used.

Never noticed that! I think that IRL, all times onboard/ war diary/patrol log were German Time no matter what time zone you were in.

I think you are right. But how was it in surface vessels? Once I heard that surface ships change their time depending the zone but submarines don't. I can understand this in the modern world where the sub is allways submerged, but because the sub during the WWII were more surface than subsurface vessels, it would be logic they followed the time zone. So, what's the point to keep the german time if you are on the American coast?

Local time is what I use to simulate Noon Sight for "Etmal" (distance in sea miles run from noon to noon)

Hello don1reed!

Looks Great! You really type in detail! What font you are using? It looks just like it would have been typed with an old mechanic typewriter, and that's not basic font you can find from Word or Works, I think. Also, how do you get long and lat? I suppose you can't use any kind of converter with the game?

Well it's MS Word set up as a three column table using GF Halda Smashed font that is available with a google search, (I don't remember where).

I play SH3 in windows format, not full screen so I can easily pause then cursor off the SH3 focus screen to my desktop where I have the KTB full screen and also minimized MQK converter, which has been around since AOTD. Just mentally divide the grid into 9 equal rectangles and plug those numbers into:
