Hello All, this is my follow up post to blidge rat attack.

Playing DID, my first career ever on this game, first patrol, using the type II A U boat, my patrol grid was AN 16. This is going to be a long post so its just a warning

Traveling submereged a long way I snuck into Scapa Flow Hugging the Western costline at extremely shallow depth. I exhausted my batteries and the CO2 level in my sub was geeting really high so I surfaced brieflly to regain some oxygen, and I waited for nightfall.

At 9:30 I continued to head into port, When checking the nav map at 8 TC I started taking damage, I though I had hit bottom so I quickly orderd all stop, when I checked thigs out I had ran into a sub net, Hull INT 83%

So I back-tracked around the net and surfaced, It was really dark by now. I continued up port when a patrolling J-Class Destroyer crossed its path in front of me about 3200 M away, using the UZO on the bridge its self up for a perfect shot, I was antsy so I fired 2 torps the first one struck it and sent it sinking, the second one hit as it was almost all the way under. LOL the waters were so shallow here that its little british flag stayed above water and kept flapping in the wind.

Now I have more destroyers closing in behind me using searchlights. They made them selves into a nice single file line behind me so I couldnt resist. Submerged for the second attack ( I got nervous after sinking the first destroyer so I went to PD)

I sank my second destroyer with one shot from tube 3. that was the lead ship in the single file line of 3 ships. Surfacing I use the UZO to line up my attack on the other 2 destroyers. I fire one at the middle one and my last on the trailing one. As I started to dive they had spotted me and started shelling me.

In the command room the boat shook violently and the lights flickered out and I thought I had taken a direct hit and died. But the lights came back on and I began my getaway.(63 % Hull INT) By now my first shot hit the middle destroyer and bounced off the hull staright down ( A dud :damn: :damn: )

Right after that my last torp hit and sank the trailing destroyer. Well, the destroyer that the dud hit was trying to sonar ping me, I could hear just like in the movies :D , He dropped some DC's that were really close but using silent running and the cover of darkness I slipped out of the harbor.

I had to get by partolling destroyers outside the harbor but I still had the cover of darkness, And I learned a neat trick. On the bridge I would lock my UZO onto the patrolling destroyer, then I would go to my nav map and spped TC up to 8, I can watch his patrol pattern and dive when he got too close. I would have sank his ass but I was out of fish.

So the point of this story is it was my first patrol, 3 warships sank, 5200 tons, 3 ship sank off of 5 torps and it could have been 4 ships :nope:

I know you guys do this all the time and is routiene, but these are my first real kills in the game, and the excitement from the attack gave me a thrill like no other Ive experienced from any other game

And now, A link for the Great Read of the real raid on scapa flow and the sinking of the Royal Oak:

What's wrong with hitting the Troop Transport ? I'd soon take one of them out than a couple of DD's there's also a T2, in there and a small Tanker.

Not me! I use as much realism as I can get, and I wouldn't dream of trying to sneak into an enemy harbor in a Type II. You're a braver man than I, and I congratulate you on your success.
