Hi all!

I've tried to find myself an Iceberg and set course for the far far North...
I was washing my dishes and suddenly I hear all kind of damage and ran to my computer to find the this 'thing' outside my sub. Hull-integrety was down to 10% (cruising at 6 kts) and damage all over the forward part of my sub.

It took place right here

Is this indeed an iceberg? looks like a landslide or so.

Best regards.. ahoi

To all U-Boat commanders / Atlantic theater: There has been a rash of ‘dish washing mishaps’ to boats of late. From now on, all subs will be fitted with Maytag dishwashers and you are forbidden to wash dish by hand.

nope, that so eisberg... it looks like...well...like land. because the SH3 icebergs all look like a "typical" iceberg...high, white and like on dowlys pic.

the one on the first pic is grey (not because of night) has a "surface" and is formed like the norhthpole in SH3...

icebergs dont have a surface...

This is the second incident I ran across today detailing careless commanders whose boats have been damage while washing dishes.

BDU must issue an immediate directive dealing with this issue :yep:

I always do my dishes when submerged at 50m or more. Surface washing can lead to breakages unless in very calm seas.

SH3 Gen said there was a possible iceberg near where I was patrolling. When I reached the area it was supposed to be in there was heavy fog, heavy rain and high winds. I didn't think it wise to keep looking in case I ran into the damn thing. Do the crew give a warning?

About "ze water". I think the greenish tint is more appropriate for shallow regions (coastal, reef whatnot) but for deeper one the dark blue one i think is more realistic. My 2 eurocents.

Getting deeper into the problem in question: water color

http://science.hq.nasa.gov/oceans/living/color.html (god bless google)

It seems that the greenish tit is mostlly given off by the phytoplancton but there are usually patches of green. So im right

edit: no intention to start a polemic..im just curious myself because

Hey don't panic I'm not offended I got a good laugh from every one. Yea the North Pole one was very dark so I corrected it and yes the sea did look like you needed to slap on the sun glasses. :rotfl:

howdyou make it look all old like that in Photoshop?

Dowly

howdyou make it look all old like that in Photoshop?

There´s lots of ways doing it.

For this pic, I first played around with colors and the brightness.

Then I added the lighting effect filter, to darker the bottom.

Then applied the.. ummm... what is it, I cant remember!! The '---- glow' under the Distort in filters!

But the result on this was pure luck, that I have to say. :rotfl:

Edit:

Oh and dont forget the motion blur. Just a little, 2-3 will do.

Edit2:

One more thing! :rotfl:

Just a OT tip for you photo editors out there.

If you want to have a glow on your image, duplicate the image and add gaussian blur to the duplicated one. So that the image is blurred. Then change the images blending option. I cant remember which one it is. Try the different ones. Off to work now.

Typically 90% of the icebergs volume is under water! Hence the term "Tip of the Iceberg"

Anyway ... Back to the Burgs ... Does anyone know the location/s of any iceburgs?
or are they a randomly created (geographically speaking) phenomina in SH3? or could
even just recommend a good area to search in? Its just that after seeing all these
great shots plus reading online (somewhere?) about some crazy guy who suggested
taking the risk of crush depth and trying to "hide" underneath one (tho he did state
that they are B I G) - I want to see :o one of these suckers up close & personal!
Any help would be greatly appreciated, TIA.

They are randomly placed and to make it harder to find one, they are slowly moving. Oh and there´s maybe 2 or 3 icebergs in the whole sea. Good luck.:D
