A bRitish hobby pilot and proud owner of an original P51 has started in England this morning and planned to bring his jewel to the ILA 2006 in Berlin. His course led him directly over Muenster, that's the place where I live. And here he lost his canopy, which - following the laws of mother nature - fell down and impacted in the garden, causing havoc on the funriture and minor damage to the roof. Nevertheless the pilot continued his flightwithout sending off an according radio call, which regulations would have demanded him to do. He landed the plane at berlin and parked it, sealed the blank cockpit, and left, destination unknown.
german authorities are in search for him now. He is marked to have some trouble. While flying without canopy is allowed, regulations would have demanded him to inform the according authorities on the ground of what he has left behind.
A visitor at Berlin also made a photo of his plane, with him still sitting in the cockpit, and without canopy :)
