I want to buy a newish car i never ever will buy a brand new one waste of money, drive it off the fore court and youve just lost £600 there and then.

Now im looking for a decent get around and something 2 people can use, not to large and not to big an engine.

i currently have two cars a rover 416si which is a 1600cc engine in it, and a rover 820si which has the 827si engine inside which is 2724cc.

Now ive taken both cars off the road cant afford to run them any more, petrol + insurance in one week comes to more than what either car is worth as a whole!

I want something cheap on parts good MPG and a good price say £4,000.

The rover i use mostly is the 820si it just drinks petrol (one of these days i might plug it into my bank account :yep: ) in a week i can use an entire tank £53 worth of juice and heck i havnt even gone that far !

insurance as it stands now is £4,396 per year for this car and its just too much.

Ideal cars:

Ford Focus
Ford Fiesta
Vauxhal Corsa
Ford Escort
Rover 25
Rover 45

Forget Vauxhall and Rover... (I say this as a former 216GSI owner). Crappy reliability and build quality imo.
go for a Ford- you can't go wrong as they are ten a penny.
Escort - getting a bit long in the tooth.
Fiesta - just too small and pokey, plus anything except the ST or as was the XR2i is a girls car.
Focus - ok I guess, but not my cup of tea.
Mondeo - seems to be a good choice, good solid cars and for 4K you could get a really good second hand one less than 7 years old with all the toys inside etc.

Yeah but dont forget insurance cost a mondeo would still be up near what im paying now for my rover i just cant afford it any more.

I did see a nice 2.0ltr modeo but £2200 well yeah ok id buy it but tax insurance ect mounts up if i had a car below 1.6 id be happy, and there isnt many modeo's under 1.6 infact i dont think there is one.

Yeah they make good lorrys do volvo had the pleasure of driving thier new arctic the FH16 660-BHP one, dont care for thier I shift gear boxes though and the splitter for the gears is very tempremental.

Scania make horrid lorrys driven a few of them again arctics, driven the high top one and it just was rubbish again same type of gear box but the splitter was easier to work with.

The top lorrys Volvo and iveco stralis can beat the.

As for cars saab makes nice ones (people who make scania lorrys) and so do volvo, but i need cheap.

Ford Focus previous model. Very reliable and an all round good car. It has always receieved great reviews. The new one is even better but out of your price range.
