View Full Version : Weapons do you carry them?

Does anyone want to openly admit they carry a weapon?

I have done so in the past both 3 inch and 6 inch knives and also a CO2 pistol fully loaded 16 round repeater .177

I some times do carry a weapon my 6 inch knife being the one i choose the most to carry only for defence i dont carry the weapon often it depends on where i am going and what time im out till.

Normaly im unarmed, and wear steel toe boots which if i kick you hard enough can fracture your skull or break ribs.

I dont go out looking for a fight, if a fights going to happen it will come to me and then il defend myself.
I dont condone the use or carrying of a weapon however i live near a very rough estate and also have experance as i used to live on one of these gang land estates, and i do have a few problems behind me.

Weapons are good for defence but i dont support anyone carrying them because they want to attack.

What about you guys?

I once modified my watch like that assassin’s in ‘From Russia with Love’ (the watch with the thin wire to choke people with). Came in useful once in school when someone was beating on a friend of mine.

I used to in high school, primarly for self defense. We had alot of gangs, a few drive by's shootings, i had someone sort of "mug" me once and held a knife to my throat. So i took to caring a 6 inch folding buck knife. It was nice and flat, and carried it inside my jean jacket i used to wear at the time. I really felt i had no other choice.

In the service i used to carry a survival knife on my LC gear, and also kept a gerber made knife that much resembled a british fairbane dagger on my person. It was about 8 inchs long, double bladed, solid metal from tip to pumbel, galvanized black. Was a good solid pig sticker. I wore that inverted on my BDU pants belt, underneath my BDU "blouse". The top of the case would be just below my armpit. The tip of the handle would be concealed by my shirt. I could produce this knife with one swift downward motion. I kept that with me when i went to some not so kind places we werent welcome. Again, self defense, although i took a little ribbing from my brothers. Anyone who strapped a knife immediatly got the "rambo" comments. Other then that my primary duty weapon was an M16a2.

As a civlilian, the only gun i own is a shotgun for bird hunting. I dont carry anything on me anymore. Unless you want to count "the car club". Ive always figured i'd use that for a noggen bopper if need be. The knives i kept with me in the srvice, are now in the bottom of a box, shoved way in the back of a closet. I don't care to see them anymore, and don't like being reminded of why i felt the need to have them.

Bout the same story. I used to carry a 2 and half inch folding knife back in high school because of street gangs. Now i have a baseball bat in my car (to tenderize any abnoxious bastard who thinks he can "road rage" at me :|\ ) and a tear-gas spray, which btw i think its been long expired :) Ive never gotten into a fight though i punched a dude back in school. Ive been threatned with a knive once though but managed to escape.

Why would I carry a weapon? Up until a few years the police in the city I live in (population 180,000) didn't even carry sidearms. Why would I?

I have carried a swiss army knife everywhere in my trouser pocket since I was about 10 years old.
It's not a weapon, it's a tool; and a very useful one at that.
Besides, discretion is the better part of valour.

I often carry a Leathrman tool.I have allways a piece of electric cable under my car seat, and a baseball bat on the back. Its just a habbit i learned from my grandfather. Both can be explained if asked by the police. ;) Sometimes i have forgotten my shotgun on the back also, just have to be carefull were i leave my car when i forgot it there... ;) Thats also legal. At one time when i got threated by these criminals that i beat up, (they said they would kill me and burn my house) i had 9mm Glock also under my seat.

Didnt i read somewhere that Finland has the lowest criminalitty rate in the world? :o You dont fit in the statistics HT :-? Crime is pretty slow but Finland still has very heavy rate of violent crime compared to its size. The resession in the mid ninetys caused a lot of substance abuse and mental problems that effect still these figures. Pretty brutal things happen, just little time ago in the next town, two narcomans attacked the first person that came along. They forced him in to a car and took him on the woods were they beat him with iron pipes. He has severe head trauma and is still in hospital unconcious. The fackers couldnt give any reason for their act, both were on a suspended sentence for prior violent, drug and robbery crimes. The number of law enforcement in Finland is one of the lowest in the world. Many crimes remain unsolved because of this lack of resources. I live in an area, that could have a worst case response time of 30-45min, by the police. I just am not going to become a victim to any lowlife roaming for new pray.

I keep my AK-47 in the truck if I'm going to a site where I've seen bear sign. Especially now that they're coming out of hibernation and a bit peckish. The 2 main sites I have it for are San Antonio Mtn. west of Taos, where I have big dents on the roofline of the shelter from Griz, and Boy Scout, near Capitan, where I have to hike in about 2 miles & up about 1500 feet from 7k to 8500 ft. Such is the life of a modern-day mountain man.

My state issues permits, and yes, I have one. I certainly don't broadcast the fact when I'm carrying said weapon.

If I wasn't "law abiding", then I wouldn't have the permit. So by this Orwellian logic, I am the least likely of your problems -- I wouldn't have the permit if I wasn't law abiding and looking to stuff you in the hurt locker. In reality, I wish 99% of the population was required to exercise a permit. It would be rough the first year or two, but after that, things would quiet down and the violent crime rate would all but disappear (meaning the nut-jobs would all be dead at that point).

Weapons. Would I carry them? Are you kidding - a sword roughly 1 m in length?

Imagine this. I visit friends, they open the door and the lady of the house tells me: "Hi, nice to see you, come in and hang your coat behind the door, and the hat over there and - and the... thing, well, put it in the kitchen."

Or the master of the house grabbing the wrong grip when leaving , and later returning and asking his wife: "What kind of hightech umbrella have you bought? I tried to open it, but I miserably failed! And there I stood at the bus stop with my folded umbrella holding upwards and me getting wet. Really pointless, somehow. I looked like the damn statue of liberty."

Scenes that remind me of Monthy Python, almost.

I am authorized to carry weapons but, until now, I never saw a good reason to use this permision.

OMG some of yous carry weapons!

Before i moved to live with human beings i lived for 11 yrs in the rugged bush, nearest neighbour was miles away, for income i use to trap posseums for there fur and sell them $12 a fur could sometimes rake up a kill of 50+ per day on a good day, average was about 30 per day, own a vicous american pit bull that was my weapon if anyone turned up and passed through the gate without letting me or Satan (dogs name) know, that person usually left the area with his groin badly mauled  Never owned a gun, just my dog and a huge hunting knife plus the missus at the time could handle herself as well. :). Cooking was done on the coal range, had power yet the only modern thing we owned was a PC I was playing AOTD back then . Best yrs of my life, then i come back to civilization live in a town, and hate it. Im actually been thinking of move back to the bush and live like we all suppose to not as friggin townies. I can't handle this livestyle... to many ppl. Plus waking up to the sound of traffic drives me nuts. In the bush we use to wake up to the sound of the tui's singing. And for miles around all the eye could see was bush. Now its friggin houses. :nope:

You forgot to tell us how you repelled the Mauri raids, certainly you are ommiting some sort of secret weapon? One dog versus an entire tribe?

Tell us the truth, your little "hut" in the bush is a WW2-era Bunker created to stop a Japanese invasion, probably filled with Machine Guns, sandbags, barbed wire around the perimeter, and a persicope to direct mortar fire, which is usually carried out by your wife.

on a personal note, i dont usually cary a knife or anything as im not really skilled with one. however, when im done here, i'll be old enough to get a concealed firearm permit and will be getting an H&K USP .45. in Dallas, i never thought id need to carry one, but after living here in Washingtin DC, i feel seriously vulnerable when i dont have a pistol at least.

i'm gonna 'run' with Neal and Bill on this one... never carried a weapon once i left the service (my job required i carry a concealed firearm), and don't plan to...

i've found, that in most cases, people who carry weapons are not really trained in their use, and if a trained person can get within arms reach of an armed person, he can easily disarm them before they can take their next breath, and the weapon that they though was gonna save em could suddenly become the instrument of their demise...

I am a pacifist and an anti-materialist, and therefore do not carry a weapon. However, I am also a black belt of the second degree in Aikido, and do not require one.

I carry very little cash, and if a criminal holds me by gunpoint, he may have my wallet. I will simply go home and cancel my cards. If he wants something more, then he will have to face me for it.

I carry two weapons at all times now after a number of violent confrontations at night over the past couple years. One is a japanese tool called a jutte, which is basically like a truncheon. Completely blunt and great for grappling with. Also very heavy. A solid whack would make most people rethink a physical confrontation, and getting their elbow hyperextended ought to take the fight out of em... That's the tool that I intend on using for the average thug that might try to cause me problems again (If I can't handle him barehanded). The other is a very long knife that has only one purpose, stabbing vital points to kill. Hope I'll never have to use that. But there are always people out there with guns or knives so, if it comes to that, well, better them than me as the saying goes.

Someone mentioned that carrying weapons can be dangerous unless trained in their use..I agree wholeheartedly. I would not carry a weapon if I was not trained in some kind of unarmed system as well as weapon retention. That's just asking for trouble. It's also important to be able to use your weapon if you need to, and not delay it for fear of the concequences. Up the ante only if you need to, but if you need to, do it properly, not in some half-assed way.

wow, im shocked... im living really safe her down in good old germany... not many bad corners here (except schools in berlin :know: ).

but sometimes im asking myself whats wrong with this world? students who need to wear arms of all kinds to feel safe, shoot outs "here and there"...

i dont want to attack someone, but michael moore did a good job with "bowling for columbine"... the things about the US press... that they only show "bad things" happening, so that everyone thinks he lives in a world of **** (copyright@full metall jacket).

if you say "take a look outside, its true, isnt it?" yes it is... even beause of this uhm...(we call this "panikmache") creating panic.

now everyone thinks "uh, the world is bad, i need a gun or better two to protect myself, my family and my neighbors...

wow, very cool thinking but... too bad to shoot the own daughter who comes back deep at night and daddy didnt know she was away from home... intruder? *boom*!

oopsie it was "insertname"...

ok sorry, very sarcastic, but that fits perfect. its a rolling snowball, you know what i mean? nothing will and can be better with guns, guns and more guns... because guns kill people (yeah i know, NRA freaks say the opposite, but...c´mon!). here in germany its pretty difficult to get a gun. just if youre in law enforcement, a hunter, or for sports(isnt so easy like it sounds). but its law to keep the guns and ammunition in different safe´s and keep the key always at your side...

but anyway, even here sometimes a little boy find daddys gun and shoot his 7year old best friend...

I have my Kimber .45, but don't really need to carry it concealed (which means most of the time, I am unarmed). I do carry it in the car once in a while, espeicially if I'm heading to the mountains and I have open carried it up in the mountains as well (No need for a permit for open carry up there). If I go shooting as well, I keep it open carried there too incase someone tries to do something stupid like steal my guns.

I have a permit, but I mainly wanted the permit to be able to transport it anywhere without restriction. Some of the restrictions imposed by this state (WA) only allow you to transport between, shooting range, work, and home, no in between. The permit allows you to remove that restriction and keep it with you if you wanted to go grab a bite to eat after the range for example without having to go home first.

Anyway, I have the option if I want. I'd only think about it if I were haeding to Seattle or Tacoma or something.
