New Leutnant / newb radio problem

Hi, new Leutnant here hoping for some help. I'm loving the game - played a lot of Silent Service II back in the 90s, but SHIII is looking like the game I always wanted to play.

I'm playing 1.4 without any mods at the moment and there is one area where I feel I'm missing something, namely radio messages.

Every so often I get a message from my Radioman saying 'New message received', but I can't seem to access it. I click on radio man and click the 'Report contacts' icon, but he just reports back straight away saying 'no new messages received'.

I must be missing something here, but I don't know what! I've even tried right clicking into the radio room itself and clicking everything I can find (even the gramaphone!), but no results so far......can anyone tell me where I'm going wrong please?

Incidentally I do also get occasional messages in the box giving me details of nearby convoys, but this is the only contact I have with BdU between leaving Kiel and returning.

Like he says it's the M key to access radio messages, but on a side note you may want to consider modding your stock game since there are quite a number of bugs and half finished features that have since been worked on by our wonderful modding community, including a hugely expanded Radio Log. My 2 absolutely must have mods are the Grey Wolves and SH3 commander Mods-Never Leave Port Without 'Em!! Welcome aboard!

Thanks for the help - I'll try this out tonight.

I've only just started looking at the various mods available, but from what I've read it sounds like SH Commander and Grey Wolves mods are must-haves.
