Don't think much of this but it figures.

Oh good. We'll be so much better off once we've been assimilated into the advertising Borg.

During studying at university, I also had to deal some time with business and marketing psychology - I kept the timeframe as limited as possible (not too mention that it was lethally boring). Those people truly were aliens from an absurd world. We even did not speak the same language.
Glad that my gaming days, all in all, seem to be over anyway. Today sometimes I pass a shelf with games - and looking at the titles I can honestly say that most months of the year there isn't a single piece of game that raises even minimal interest in me. what I still play is some old quality stuff. The last game that I bought, Steel Beasts and chess not counting, was F4AF (not really counting as something new, since I use Falcon since many years) and SH3 (which I wouldn't have bought if at that time I already would have been in full awareness of the starforce issue).
Even buying scenery or addons for FS has lost it's attraction to me. Once you have learned enough about it, it's never be like it was when this kind of stuff was really new.
Think I am immune to these tendencies the article describes.

Whoever played Splinter Cell Chaos Theory might have noticed the obscene ammount of advertisments in there :)

Oh, goodie. So I'm gonna have a big Best Buy sign on my Gato in SH4? I'm sure it will add to my natural camoflage. :-?

Pretty much yeah  Remember, SH3 is not lacking ingame commercials either ...BECKS anyone?
I bet some brilliant mind somewhere in the UBI offices is cooking up a plan to incorporate BURGER KING, COKE (and why not PEPSI) into SHIV. :hmm:

To me it kinda raised the "realism/immersion-bar" a little. Seeing actual things advertised or lying around. Of course it was kinda silly for almost every computer to have the same Nokia-screensaver but you catch my drift.
As long as the game won't be interrupted with commercial breaks I'm fine with it.

On the plus side if Heckler & Koch or Farique Nationale sponsors a game we won’t have to use pseudonyms for the guns. Say good bye to all those D5Ks and RC-P90s!
