Subsim is having a contest for the best submarine stories. If you like to write war patrol diaries, submarine fiction, and U-boat stories, send us your best. The top submissions will be included in a special project book we are putting together to celebrate Subsim's 10th anniversary.

The story should be in Notepad, don't format it or use Word. Simple Notepad. You will get a chance to edit the story with any special punctuation or formatting before it goes to print.

The top story will win $50 and a copy of the book. The top 4 behind the winner will get a free copy of the book. Authors will get full credit.

If you posted a good story in the forums, copy and paste into Notepad, clean it up, and send it in.

To submit, go here:
http://www.subsim.com/subsim_special_project.htm

Submission deadline: July 15 (don't wait till the last minute :) )
Content: nothing x-rated, please. Realistic language acceptable.
Length restrictions: none, will consider anything from 1500 words to 20,000.
Images: will include images, artwork. Submit for consideration.

good hunting!

Are any more details available, for example a deadline, length restrictions, must it be readable by "general" audiences - no foul language or graphic content?

I love to write and I will endeavor to enter although work is hell so don't know if I'll have time. It's a nice community initiative though and thanks you guys for sponsoring it.

Am I wrong, or the requirement is about .txt (not .doc) files, and not about the editor/word processor to use?

Well, maybe I could send something, if I'll manage to translate properly my better ideas.

.txt file, correct.

I have been getting positive replies from many of the Navy men, game developers, and writers who are contributing to the book, this is going to be big.

Hi Neal,

Has the judging concluded yet, or is it still ongoing? Haven't heard anything in a while and I'm a bit curious.

Thanks
