Need some assistance.

First time player of this series.

I've done the first three patrol missions and on default realisim. I've yet to find an enemy ship to attack. I've told the sonar operator to scan and the radar to continous scan. Red Squares have shown up on the grid but after traveling over to them, nothings there.

Is there something I'm doing wrong?

2.
I tried to fire the deck gun (single mission) and it tells me it's not ready?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Is it '39? Things can be quiet in 39. Further, patrols in the North Sea are _very_ quiet in 39. Go to the channel. Don't run under for long periods (mines). You'll find plenty in the channel.

1 Going directly to the red squares won't work because the ship has moved you have to plot an intercept coarse to the ship.

2 the deck gun You have manned it I assume? and not loading.

plus I'll add .... the sonar doesn't work when on surface.... dive to like 20 meters and shut engine off and let sonarman listen for about 1/2 hour ... or you do it.... make sure you have volume turned up all way on sonar dial to get farthest away sounds .....

deck gun thing ... you have to have watch officer tell the crew to man the gun... then you can man it yourself .... you become the trigger man .. the other 2 will load gun after you fire it ...
