I'm conflicted. On the one hand, I think all of these guys should be tried under Sharia, the law they chose, by a handpicked court of our Islamic judges. Then, when they're convicted, they would be taken down to international waters off Cuba, their right hand cut off & made to walk the plank in shark-infested waters. Going a little off topic here - this is why I think it's better that we (at least the public) *don't* know the exact whereabouts or status of Osama. If the bad guys are executed, they become martyrs for their cause and thus inspirational. If they go free, they continue to inspire their followers through their defiance and by remaining at large. Incarceration is probably the best option, although not without risk - for it might encourage the legions they have inspired to further violence in the name of those held "captive."

Actually, it won't cost more money. Studies have shown that the cost of appeals in a death penalty case are far more costly than imprisoning someone for the rest of his/her life.
