We know it, we had it before, this cannot be any good, right - a computer game, no - even worse - a console game ("Squeak! let me outa here...!") being turned into a movie - that can only result in the biggest crap the cinemas have ever seen. We had it before, "Wing Commander", "Resident Evil", "Doom" - oh how explicitly they demonstrated the truth of this statement: computer games on movie screens are BAD!
but today I red this movie review http://www.heise.de/tp/r4/artikel/22/22636/1.html of the famous PS-game "Silent Hill", and I have googled and saw that there are quite some reviews in English language as well. judguing by the German review I linked, this movie promises to be quite a good one, and leading far beyond the usual dilletantic transportation from game to film format.
What do you think? Has anyone seen it? Could you share your impression?

No. But its the talk around here as well. I thought it was the latest release of the game Silent hill until i was told its the movie. I played Silent Hill on the console and it made Doom 3 look like childs play. Its one of those "slam doors behind you hit the roof and wet ya pants" games :o I dont know but i use to find myself checking under the bed before i crash out. :rotfl:
Im a sucker for scary things, i still freak when watching the Alien movies. :88)
I heard the first hour was ok but after that it falls apart and leaves you to wonder should I demand my money back. Other reviews say its rubbish from start to finish; these kinds of films based on video games are most of the time poor and this one sounds it.
If Uwe Boll hasn't made it we should be alright

Im visualizing a Silent Hunter movie  I would get Weta graphics who did the Lord of the Rings to design the Uboats & the silent hunter world would all be computerised. Das boot director to create the story and Robert Deniro or Sean Connery as the Kapitan Oh and Tom cruise as a captain of a merchant that gets blown to bits in the first 10 minutes. :-j

Yes i forgot about the age, would have to be an actor in his late 20's early 30's. Hmm Connery could be Donitz?. As for the kapitan maybe the real kapitan of subsim could apply for the job ;). For the opening: 1942 some where in the atlantic U422 a VIIC making her way through a convoy at persicope depth, speed 3 knots. Kapitan rasies his scope and sees a strange looking guy dancing on the deck of an ocean liner(This is where Micheal Jackson comes in) The kapitan complains that he can see some idiot moon walking on deck and orders battle stations. Los! away goes the torpedoes with camera views chasing them, the tension is high, Jaws like music in the background as the torpedos head to there target., da da. da da.... Boom! seconds later michael jackson is thrown 100's of feet into the air, SPLAT! kapitan looks through the scope to see Michael Jacksons nose stuck to the scope lens. He jumps with joy we got the bastard!.... :-j
