Yes, but relax. The son of a b*tch isn't going into the Whitehouse. Not because we're afraid he'll invade Indonesia -- a veritable cesspool of fundamentalist filth, mind you -- but because he would refuse to limit spending. He would be spending like the current Bush, and the previous Bush. The exact same way he runs Florida. Not the $10 billion deficit (which had been $38b when Davis left, not to even mention debt [$50b]) that California runs, but a $25b debt isn't much better. You don't "balance" your budget with loans, unless it's a crisis, and it's been a crisis (in Florida) every year since the mid 1970's. That's how they managed to rack up a $25b debt.

No, I'd like a Libertarian in there this next semester. I'd really like the Fair Tax instigated, and an absolute freeze in spending (as opposed to a "spending cut", which is really just a cut in the spending growth  ).

No, Bush-the-little-bro will get the seat after whoever comes after Bush GW. You know, they are the real Kennedies, though much more successful. A whole dynasty of politicians running the country into the ground. All involved with oil companies, all raping the world for their own fun.

Yep, Jeb does like Ol'Sparky a whole lot, even when it causes prisoners heads to burst into flames.

So just like his bro, who I belive has personally authorized the execution of more people than any other President in history, Jeb isn't afraid to throw the switch. What a compassionate guy.

Here's the guy you feel Jeb Bush ought to have compassion for. I've bolded the pertinent parts:

Allen Lee Davis (July 20, 1944 - July 8, 1999) was a mass murderer executed on July 8, 1999, for the May 11, 1982 Jacksonville, Florida murder of Nancy Weiler, who was three-months pregnant at the time. According to reports, Nancy Weiler, was "beaten almost beyond recognition" by Davis with a .357, and hit over 25 times in the face and head.

He was also convicted of killing her two daughters, Kristina (9, shot twice in the face) and Katherine (5, shot as she was trying to run away). Davis was on parole for armed robbery at the time of the murders.

IMO, if anything they should have lowered the voltage a bit and let him slow cook a little more...

First off, just because I don't belive in setting the heads of convicted murderers on fire doesn't mean I don't think that Davis will burn in hell for what he did. Secondly, I think that Tiny should have had to rot in prison for the rest of his useless life contemplating his sins. He was going to die eventually, why speed his trip to the grave? Plus if (as has happened may times here in my home state of Illinois) the guy turns out not to be guilty, we can let him go free. Kinda hard to pardon a guy that's six feet under. :hmm:

Personallu i'm torn on the issue of the death penalty. Part of me agrees with you about the problem of the wrongly convicted, but another part says that even the electric chair is too good of a death for scum that would deliberately shoot a 5 year old child in the back.

And BTW, are you deliberately trying to imply that Jeb/George Bush are responsible for executing convicted murderers?

FYI, executions are ordered and authorized by Judges in accordance with state law (which in both cases preceeds the Bushes tenure), not state governors regardless of who they're related to or how much you hate their guts.

Governors of states are required to sign death warrants prior to the execution of a condemned man, thereby affirming the sentence, also, Governors in most states have the power of Commutation or Pardon. Niether Bush brother seems to have a problem with putting people to death, and George once mocked a born again christian woman, Karla Faye Tucker, who begged him for a commutation, that many foriegn leaders and international organizations had pressured him to have mercy on.

Yeah, affirming a sentence handed down by a duly consituted court in accordance with state law. That does NOT mean deciding on a whim to overturn that sentence. The Governor of a state has a sworn duty to uphold the law. That affirmation procedure is there to ensure a last chance for those who do not deserve their sentence (ie the innocent) to be saved.

This is not the case here. Karla Faye Tucker, along with two others brutally murdered 2 people. There is no doubt she did it as she later boasted that the deed had given her multiple orgasms as is noted in the Wikpedia article. Agree with the article or not on her motivations for saying such a callous thing but the fact is she did say it and she did do it and she did pay the penalty for it.

Justice was done.

Hey, let's not forget brother Neal. How many hundreds of millions did this clown cost the nation in the Silverado Savings and Loan debacle in the 80's? You know, The one that Mommy Barbara, she of the famous statement,"Well that's a step up for those people."(referring to Katrina evacuees living on cots in the Houston convention center), earmarked her Katrina donation to only buy education software from the company Neal runs(?) in Houston. Besides, it won't matter after July/August timeframe. That's when George will attack Iran with nuclear weapons. Mid-air refueling squadrons are deploying now and two more carrier battle groups are deploying to the Indian Ocean. They should be on station and ready to attack in late June/Early July. With the delay of the Divine Strake mini-nuke bunker-buster test put off to early June, July or August sounds about right. That way they can cancel the mid-term elections.

A lot of folks were surprised when the Republicans first put George II up for president. Everybody felt that Jeb was the smarter brother by far and he was the one who would be picked for the White House.

I don't agree with George on every issue, but I do get tired of listening to the people who hate him just because they hate him. I feel perfectly certain that if he had NOT invaded Iraq they would be hating him because of his cowardice in not going.

You can't win with some people, and I also feel the same way about the Republicans who impeached Clinton. I never like him, but that whole game was purely political.

This is of course the real issue of death penalties.
It's the system, of which the Govenor is only one link. The Govenor signs as a matter of fact, unless he finds a good reason not to sign. That reason seldom exists after the long deliberations that presede the actual execution...

I have to say that I find the death penalty totally unnecessary as a preventive measure. It only satisfies those who want revenge, which is not the best of motives...
