I cannot believe my luck! I was in the Med. U-556 had just spotted the convoy of a lifetime - two passenger liners escorted by only a Black Swan frigate! I fired a two salvo spread at each. One sank and the other stopped. I waited for the BSF to leave the area and finished off the other PPL with three more torpedoes. I headed west and came across yet another small convoy. It was two troop transport escorted only by another BSF! I again fired two torpedoes at each. The one sank and the other kept on going at five knots. I reloaded my last torpedo. Adter the BSF got ahead, I got ahead of the TT and lined up my shot. That sent her to the bottom. As I go back to the nav map to plot a course for home the stupid game crashes!!! I try to reload my last save and the damn thing crashes too!!! I cannot believe it. The patrol of a lifetime - gone!!! I didn't even get to total the tonnage! :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :damn: :hulk: :hulk: :hulk: :hulk: :hulk:

Your not the first person to encounter that. I wonder what causes it.
Does your campaign by chance use the same Campaign files as UC or Tonnage war?
My personal, unsubstantiated suspicion is that all the naval bases on the LND layer to represent cities is more then what the game can saftlley handle.
Mines too. I think theyres just WAAAYYY too many of them for the game to handle.
I toned both down on my game and have yet to have a crash. *knocks on wood*.

Would upgrading your PC's RAM help this problem? :hmm:
how much ram does your cpu have?

Right now I'm running GW 1.1. I have since left the Med.
My computer has 1GB Crucial Ballistix DDR400 RAM. It is plenty. I also have an Athlon 64 3500+ processor. My computer is more than capable at running SH3. This was just one of SH3's nasty pukes on me at the most inopportune time. :damn: :damn:

At least you computer is running it. Mine seems to be having problems. It keeps crashing on the loading of the game, and this despite doing a full reinstall of the game.
I hope that SHIV will be more stable than this one.
:nope:
Dammit Syxx. Sorry for you mate!
It happend to me once so far, and back then there was only RUB and a few skins in my SHIII game!
It crashed for no reason while i was on the the bridge, scannig the probably larges convoy of my Career. It was my 9 or 10'th patrol!

Sounds like a dumb question, but its not: You running Win 98? The game is very unstable under 98 and I had frequent crashes until I installed under XP.

There's none here who still has win 98 on this playin' PC.

Same thing happened to me, I added Ram to computer.... so far so good. Might be wise when you see a good target like that save game before attacking.

I've hated this bug for a while. I get crashes when I switch back to the command room (F2). It's unpredictable, but usually happens after i've bagged some major tonnage. My only solution is to save after every kill. I also save after a good hit that I am waiting to flood because I know that if it's a big enough ship, the bastard game will probably crash me when i casually switch back from periscope view to command room. It might be ram related, butnot sure.
