game crashes when reloading saved games

Having a new problem with game crashing to desktop when trying to load saved games. This only occurs when saved during patrols, not when in ports. Very frustrating to say the least. I am running game with latest patch, only mod is harbor traffic 1.47. Was working fine, now occurring every time. Any thoughts?

Did you modify or tweak anything while this saved game was on patrol?

Usually saved games barf if you mod something while not in port. Primarly any sort of graphical change.


Try Scandisk or defrag?
Maybe you had a cluster go bad on your HD or something.

does this mean I have to start a whole new career or simply go back a few patrols?

Any saved game that is

"in base before "
or
"in base after "

should be fine.

Try cutting and pasting the contents of your My Documents/SH3/Data/Careers to your desktop and back again.

This worked for me once and I saved the career.

the problem is that even when I go back to an in port game, when I save during the next mission it won't reload. I did try the cut and paste trick just mentioned without luck
