Hey, all, new here.
Weird thing happened to me today, I fired torpedo into Medium Cargo (C2) - 4 meters, impact, he caught fire and right away there were several small explosions all over the cargo and after a while she went down.
However, I was NOT credited for the sinking, what happened?
Even on the nav map, there was no usual red sinked ship icon.
Btw, I'm only using Grey Wolves Supermod v.1.1.

Happened to me with a t2 tanker off british coast (grid AN 73).
There was no mod installed on my sh3, and i've seen the ship sinking with my periscope.
There was bad weather, so i suppose that the storm finished off the boat hp and then i wasn't credited (stupid game :P).

My first guess is that you lost credit by incorrectly saving your game.
Or
Did you never get the "ship destroyed" message at all?
...and BTW...calling this sim a game....much less for calling it stupid... won't get you very far in these parts.... just a word to the wise..... ;) :yep:

She was British, and yes, I never got "She's going down!" message.
I don't think it was saving game error because I've waited several hours after she sunk before saving.
I think it was the weather that killed her, even though I got her first :yep:

Never get "She's going down!", and the patrol was successfull, other ships we're credited well.
Actually i'm on the same career with no problems, so i don't think there was some file-corrupt issue.
Digression:
IMHO all computers and related products are stupid, is a common design-flaw, but AI = more or less complicate mathematic algorithm, so you can find it is matching, but there's no real "intelligence", and i'm not talking only of games or SH3.
The one explained above is an error that will never happen in RL at the same conditions, except for one thing: stupidity (never said that only PC are stupid :P).
And, yes, i'm playing a game, a good simulation, it remains a (buggy, damn to dev's!!!) game, i don't think i can forget easily (and i won't).

Losing credit for the occasional ship happens to everyone, but it is a fairly minor bug. If it bothers you that much, save before you carry out attacks, and reload if you aren't credited. You should probably do that anyway, unless you're playing Dead is Dead (no reloading).
It could be much worse: some sub commanders did not get to see (and therefore confirm) sinkings when they were attacked by escorts. Other kaleuns were assigned to mine laying duties (not in SH3, though), where you probably never got credit for anything your mines sunk.
Also, Coort, please do us the courtesy of taking the time to write your post with decent grammar. I don't demand perfection, but I do ask that you spend the three minutes necessary to make it look good.

I too grind my teeth when improper grammar is used, but it is rude to try to make other posters live up to your standards. In a document, yes; but on a bulletin board?
Around here you'll find yourself correcting just about everyone, all the time.

Yep....without the "ship destroyed" message (or whatever the variant is) you will get no credit.
I would suggest making sure you keep the target locked until you do get the message if it is at all possible, in order to insure credit....'cause always when the game breaks the target lock the destroyed message is given. If I unlock to deal with another target I sometimes don't get the message/credit.
This is the big bug-a-boo for me with the realistic sinking mods. As much as I thoroughly enjoy the improved sinking characteristics these drawn out sinking times often rob me of credit. I can live with that, the improvement is worth the loss of credit. I guess what bothers me more is that, never being sure I have dealt the target a death blow, I tend to expend way too many torpedoes on each target.....just to be sure. And guess what?....that tactic robs me of tonnage credit too, in a way, if you catch my drift.... :shifty: ...but whats a Captain to do?....nothing is ever cut and dry and that adds excitement and spice.
