Topics like this pop up every couple of months. They are usually answerd by a mod's concern that such download sites really offer legal stuff, because "abandoned" software not necessarily means "copyright has been given up" (most of the time it is not like this).

To avoid any possebility of legal troubles for Neal, please consider to withdraw this thread.

Well I know one which is perfectly legal. Cinemaware have released all of their classic titles on a free download basis at

http://www.cinemaware.com/vault.asp?vault=games

You need only to register to enjoy the likes of the original Defender of the Crown, Wings, It Came from the Desert (spent countless hours on that one!), Rocket Ranger, TV Sports Football, Lords of the Rising Sun etc. etc.

A real treasure house ...well worth a look...assuming you didn't already know about it.

Here“s another site where you can legally download games, applications and demos:

Skybird is right, "abandonware" is not automatically legal. It's the responsability of the poster to make sure that any ware he links to is legal.
Since this is a vague territory, subsim.com prefers you to steer away from it.

If you don't object to paying something for it, there is a series with the name "Amiga Classix". Each disk has lots of game disk images, and WinUAE with a licensed kickstart ROM. All legal, relatively cheap if you can find them.
