TK20's mission was to test fire the SS-N-20 missile and also hunt and kill another submarine, which was done sucsessfully.

Test fire a SS-N-20? I thought they got the bugs worked out of it already. And why is a SSBN sent to hunt down a submarine? Shouldn't it be an evasion exercise?

Still, nice to see that baby head back to sea.

SS-N-20 is an old missile beluva is now taking them over to become the main arm, the submarine was evading the other submarine but was asked to attack it to stop the sub from killing the TK20.

The firing was acctualy done many miles away from the north pole but thats the name i was given when downloaded the file from a friend of mine.

Great pics. This is one sub I would love to see up close in real life. I'm sure standing next to itt would give you an even bigger appreciation for it's size. Humongous doesn't do it justice. :o

I am reviewing all my pictures on photobucket ive uploaded some pictures i shouldnt have by mistake and so im weeding them ones out and in the process doing them all ! once these poictures have been removed il post the remaining ones.

What you saw was my pictures, however some i felt were not right to post so i didnt post, im having a crisis at the moment with copyright.

Wayne frey who is writing a book on submarines ive accidently put some of his pics onto my site, not intentionaly but i recieved an email and im looking into it right now.

The guys name is wayne frey, and id seriously recomend buying it i know i definatly will if he writes it.

Also note ive now locked down my entire album its accsessable only threw passwords, which only trusted and known people will be told but it will not be given out untill this mess is sorted.

Actually were the ones of the Typhoon in dry dock and the props showing, were they the ones where it was in the shed and you could see the TA outlets in the tail assembly and there were loads of guys around in uniform?

If that is so then that picture can be found easily on the web, in fact it was in MilParade magazine.

I'll send you a PM with the pics I am thinking of just to confirm.

There was many so i cant remember them all there on a disc in cupboard and i realy dont fancy rooting around in there, i might get lost !

A while back Subsim had a link on the main page with a few really cool Typhoon photos. I still have the link. The photos were taken while at a beach. How would you like to be at the beach and see this beast come lumbering by all of a sudden?! :cool::lol:

Id love too except that these pictures were most definatly fakes, for a start theres no beaches with bright yellow sand any where up north or any where near zapandnya litsa, more specificaly its winter for over 9 months of the year and in summer temprature rarely will allow you to jump in the sea for any more than 30 or 40 seconds before you freeze.

Also most of north russia is not inhabitted, only sparcely populated, more to the point the inhabitants are normaly only millatery so the nice family day out you see there is just well non existant.

I don't agree that those photos are faked. subpirates had them too and I am pretty sure they would have spotted a fake.

You said yourself you hadn't seen beaches like that due to the time of year you were there.

In fact I doubt it was a northern sub base but one of the ones in the White sea...on subpirates they speculated that it could be heading for a test missile which means it would be heading out of Severodvinsk..which if you can read Russian then you would be able to read the caption that states the photographer was at Severodvinsk when he took the snap.

I'm taking Xabb's opinion on this as fact. I can't see anything to suggest that the pic is fake/photoshopped.

All these images make me want to trot out SCXIIc once more. :|\\
