Sounds like your firewall. There's about 6 ports you've got to open. If you're using a filtering, stateful firewall, then you're going to have to unrestrict those ports; it's probably normal http packets, but you'll need outbound rights. Plus if you've got any kind of application detection.
You can also try dropping your firewall for a 30 second period to see if it connects through. If it does, you know it's your firewall, and if it doesn't, then it's probably an installation bug.

While what Tycho said is very true, and Zombie Wolf's pointer to the zoo (aka, the UBI Forums), I would advise you to do as the Wolf suggested: RTFM. That is, Read the Flakzweilling Manual. As another word of advice, I offer up the following link: Click here. (http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2002/10/11)

For a HARDWARE Firewall/router/nat you need to do the following:
Portforward:
8 Players can join: TCP/UDP 17997 thru 18003
Ubi Ping: TCP 667
Ubi.com: TCP/UDP 40000 thru 42000
Ubi.com2: TCP/UDP 43500
If you have a SOFTWARE Firewall running, turn it OFF.

I bet you are using a router.
If that is the case, you must forward the ports in the router. Check the router's documentation how to do this.
And do not forget to specify your LAN IP (Your router IP).
For example, one address into the following range= 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.255. :yep:

The point here is isolate the problem.
1- Try to host the server without router.
2- Check from another computer with SH3 already installed, and of course, a different IP; if your server has ping.
This means = others players can join you.

You are welcome
About your crashes... it sounds to me like a hardware / drivers problem.
By the way. I notice you are not a experienced computer guy.
If you have a new $4000 system, it is not difficult to call a tech guy to get immediate assistance and get this game playing without problems right now.
Do not you think? :hmm: :hmm: :hmm:
