I wonder if anyone here has had a similar problem and or can offer any suggestions.
When I launch a patrol my mouse movements change from the normal speed that I experience in the menus and in all other programs. It seems like there is some extra acceleration applied, but only when on patrols. It results in it being very difficult to get the pointer on the desired button without overshooting and then making two or three small careful corrective movements. This has been detrimental to my ability to react quickly in emergencies and it is just plain annoying.
I tried using the mouse utilites out of game to change various factors, and they work out of game (and the changes are noticable in the menus of SHIII even) but when on patrol, the same problem persists. The mouse by the way is a Logitec cordless "Click!" model that works fine in all other applications. Its control software has an option to "disable acceleration in games" and I have tried both ways, with no effect.
I was on the beach for a while but came back to SHIII in time to get IUB 1.03 (which I liked a lot) and then Gray Wolves (which I am currently using.) It is difficult to remember that far back but I don't think I had this problem in the stock game. It does seem though that it appeared sometime before the two mods I mentioned were available. It also seems, but might just be my imagination, that the effect is more pronounced with GW. Not an accusation, just an observation that may not be accurate anyway. I love GW.
Obviously, proper troubleshooting will have me reinstall the stock game and carefully apply patches/mods to find the culprit, but before I spend that much time I thought I would ask you folks in case anyone else has had (and solved) this problem.
Thanks,
