We were talking about coffee and tea recently. I came across this story today:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/4896230.stm

So would you like milk and sugar with your poo poo coffee? :D

I stick to my Espresso, 3mg powder per 10 ml ready coffee.

That's like Kopi Luwak (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=cat+****+coffee&btnG=Google+Search). I guess there are several animals that eat coffee cherries.

Actually, they are one and the same (http://www.straightdope.com/columns/010525.html).

Blurp, puah...

Hopefully, seen the price, my last coffee should be a normal one.

Not a total surprise, as I know that several foods and beverages are made with something to forget.

The real surprise is that it's seen as an expensive niche market, instead of something for starving poor people.

I liked this part of the story:
Lusina Montenegro, who collects the beans for a living, led the coffee experts to the civet droppings. ..

"Sometimes it's a big civet and then the droppings are also big, but sometimes it's a small one and then the droppings are small," she said.
Must have been news for the coffee experts. At least, I was amazed.

And this:Ms Montenegro puts the droppings in two containers - for the old ones, which resemble chalky beans, and for the fresh ones, which look like yellow beans in gravy.
She rinses the beans in forest streams and dries them on her patio before they are sold...should easy Konovalov's and everybody's mind as far as hygiene is concerned.
The coffee colour really comes from the beans...

My favorite quote from the entire series is in that epsiode:

Professor: Who are those horrible orange creatures over there?
Glermo: Why those are the Grunka Lunkas. They work here in the Slurm factory.
Professor: Tell them I hate them.

Just goes to show what some people will do when hard-up for a cup of coffee.

A friend and I spent an afternoon a couple of weeks ago drinking Weasel Vomit coffee. It was pretty damn good. Pretty damn expensive too, mind you. Went really nice with the Jalapeno flavoured chocotalate we were eating.

Mind you, I'm about to spend £300 on a decent espresso machine so I'm probably not the person to talk about coffee with - I'm far too much of a caffeine snob.

I don't know what all the fuss is about to tell you the truth. Millions of people drink Starbucks and that really is total ****.

I hope it did not live up to its name. :o And on that I shall not take it any further. ;)

I'm a coffee-fan too. Where can you order this Waesel Vomt Coffee. I'd like to try it (I'll write a review that will beat Skybird's Steal Beasts...)
Or is this a Monty Python kinda joke.
Usually I drink decent Italian imported Illy espresso (in little Illy designed limited edition cups)...
:D

Yes, folks, it really is coffee that has been vomited up by weasels. Gives it a really chocolatty taste and smell.

Abe, I'm not sure. My mate's GF brought it back for him from a trip away, I can't remember exactly where. He had it there for a few months before we drank it. I think she got it from somewhere in either Andorra or Italy. It was very expensive though. A decent coffee supplier will probably be able to get it for you, though. We have places here like Whittards or Thomsons that I think could order it. It certainly isn't a Python Joke - Besides, The Mighty Boosh, Black Books, Green Wing, Chris Morris and Spike Milligan are more my comedy bag than the Pythons :) - although I still enjoy them.

I also drink Illy - Just bought one of their vacuum cans this morning actually. My current go-to is Lavazza Crem-a-gusto which I really like, or when i actually remember to make the special trip into town to buy it, my favourate: Monsoon Malabar, an Indian coffee of genius.

I'm getting militant about my coffee these days. I know of two places here I can get a kick-ass espresso, both run by Italian's who make the effort to buy decent coffee and equipment. There seems to be a general delusion everywhere else that adding three inches of foam to a coffee transforms it into a liquid masterpiece. It doesn't. It just makes it look as if you are trying to hide the coffee....
