After I installed the NYGM mod and a couple of other addons I decided to start a new campaign, this time in one of the "Einbäume", the type II. After spending quite a long time in the type XIs during my last campaign the little boats definitely feel a bit strange at first. But I'm slowly starting to love those brave little boats. Three patrols so far, 12,000ts sunk, no casualties and most importantly:I'm having a ton of fun again with SH3. A big thanks to all the modders who've done so much to improve this game!

:yep:

Here are some shots from my last patrol, hope you like them:

Thanks. Yes, I played a bit with them in PaintShopPro. Tried to get that "WW2 colour photo"-feeling. Saturated, high-contrast grainy photos. :yep:

I also enjoy the IIs, but they are easier to evade destroyers with since they are a smaller pnging target.

There is no doubt SH3 is a difficult and different game all togather with the type IIs.

I have yet to get a type IX I am going out of my mind trying to get one now, currently in a type VII w/ 2nd Ft

My favorite boat. Had my first successful career in the IIA: U-14. Sept 1 1939 to Feb 21, 1940

I was able to sink >15000GRT in 6 patrols. 1 C class destroyer also. Since I have SH3 commander, I was retired before my 7th patrol. :nope:

Only problem with the IIA is the lack of range: could only patrol for a few days before the fuel ran out...but torpedoes (only 5)would run out well before that...

That first screenshot looks like a photograph. Amazing.

Dimitrius, unfortunately I only have one of the original screenshots left, I deleted the other ones by mistake. Anyway, here is the large version of the one I still had:

BTW, this is U-2, with Cuxhaven in the distance, October 11th 1939.

Since I have SH3 commander, I was retired before my 7th patrol. :nope:
The new version (2.5) modifies this, so it's patrols x days at sea. A type II captain has a lot better chance at more patrols.

Also, if you're unhappy with the retirement you can always use the 'unretire' option, which resets the retirement counter.

I thought the type II had no reflections ? Is that just a feature of my vid card ? I would play an entire career in a II if they didn't look so unnatural to me...

Look in the mods section. The reflections fix for II and XXI have been out for several months.

Yes Steve. But it was OK. I was looking to move to a larger boat
