joystick compatibilty with new OS

i have a Microsoft Sidewinder forcefeedback2 joystick that is a few years old and compatible with Win98. Will Win XP recognize this or must I buy a new model. I was going to just try to install it but the software includes DirectX7 and i am cutrrently using 9. I would think that it would recognize this and not overwrite but just in case.....wanted to be careful.

I think that I have the same joystick. Mine works just fine under Windows XP.

see if theres drivers for winxp. i was using a sidewinder an older version than yours and found windows2k drivers which work for winxp
